But a single photo does not a meteor make. If they had video of the red sky glow moving that might lend to a meteor.
So I'm still seeing a sunset claiming its a mystery.

Here's some more pictures, and some possible explanations.
Personally,I wonder if there is any chance of another major Earthquake, they had one on that date, several in-between, and two today, while many are deep underground. All of them are quite strong, and I think they had red skies before.

Maybe what they saw in the sky was due to volcano activity.
There is some activity in that area:
Santiaguito volcano
Stratovolcano (3772 m (12,375 ft))
erupting
Last update: 20 Apr 2016 (increased effusive / explosive activity from Caliente dome)
Fuego volcano
Stratovolcano (3,763 m / 12,346 ft)
erupting
Last update: 13 Apr 2016 (lava flows on S and W flanks, lava fountaining from summit vent)
Pacaya volcano
Complex volcano (2552 m (8,373 ft))
erupting
Last update: 29 Mar 2016 (intense spattering from intra-crater cone)
