ISIS massacres 175 kidnapped cement workers in Northeast Damascus

ISIS militants massacred 175 workers who were captured at a cement factory Northeast of Damascus, a Syrian military source said on Friday.


It was reported that Islamic State fighters kidnapped scores of workers in an area northeast of Damascus after launching an attack on government forces there this week, Syrian state television and a monitoring group said on Thursday.

State TV quoted the industry ministry as saying 300 workers and contractors of Al Badia Cement were taken from near the town of Dumeir and that the company had lost all contact with them.

I just had to post this here on ATS as I can't quite believe what I read. Apparently the terrorists in Syria have gone after cement workers. Cement workers............. Like what on Planet Earth is going on over there in Syria? Those people are facing terrorists backed by outside powers and they are going after cement workers. It just makes no sense at all. Why cement workers? Do they work for making military cement or something? Maybe the cement workers are being taken out so Syria can't build more runways for their planes. It's just so strange a group to target. You know it's usually Christians being crucified, Alawytes being drowned, Shia being burnt alive............... But cement workers, I just don't get it. Just had to post it as it all seems insane.

Cement workers is a skilll at least they may benefit from - maybe their job role was not the focus of the attack spreading a fear message. Another massacre in the news. that what they like.

Perhaps it's a message telling those who wish to rebuild to not rebuild.

These cement workers are the types who would help rebuild Syria from the ashes of war, ISIS doesn't want Syria to rebuild unless it's part of building the Caliphate they desire.

What's worrying is despite the setbacks for ISIS and them supposedly on their last legs that they're able to massacre so many people on the borders of the capital city

Expect the murder-death-kill body count and horrific nature of atrocities in Syria to grow in the coming months. By the time a new president is in office there will be such a clamor, such a cry that "Something Must Be Done!" the people will unanimously vote for more war in the mIddle east and the legislative branch will pass new and higher expenditures to the war mongers to carry it out.

Nothing has changed, Syria is still the next stepping stone to Iran and ultimate dominance in the region.

I thought Russia fixed all of this.

if they were demolition experts Isis would have hired them and given them a raise.

Sort of, except ISIS are a part of a global community that do things like this on almost every country, and definitely every one that they inhabit.

Obviously it was to spread fear, but with an agenda to ensure submission. Fear of not bowing down and submitting to them. What are people thinking. Fear is a tool.

They don't simply want you to leave them alone, their entire belief from the offset is to intimidate you. and the day we ignore the death of over a hundred people under a cult, even one hiding behind extremist values that allows them to act without repercussion from those who would dismiss it as scaremongering, then we've lost. We don't ignore a murder in a neighbourhood, we seek out the perpetrator, we tell people that there is a maniac on the loose, not to scare them, but to ensure they know.

To ignore these acts, is to allow them. What else is there, when the entire rational is to simply wipe out all opposition.

Do bees sting to scare you or defeat you? even if they die in the process? Yet fear is what they rely on as they attack en masse.

That's like saying a bunch of robbers stole a large amount of money from an open vault just to make sure you keep your money safe.

No, they took advantage of people, people who will say "They're not so bad, not all the same" in a land where it is taught this sort of atrocity as a justified act from birth. Sure, not all will kill you, maybe it is those who are the ones afraid.
