Would it be possible to allow an option to get rid of those very annoying background pictures? They take bandwidth and distract a lot.

Puting them on a separate url or using a constant filename would allow us to block them.

I have nothing against Denver Intl Airport, but those murales are disgusting...

I like them. But I sometimes have to select the "view background image" option to figure out what they are.

he is not talking about member profile " backgrounds " but the image that loads behind every page

i dont see the point of a image that is so baddly obscured - but still uses the recources of a full page image

You can also use different themes for windows, those high contrast ones makes all the back rounds images simplier one color back rounds. I use it cause its easier for the eyes.

Control and plus a couple of times and it will zoom in and you onyl get the bit of the page with words on.

You can then hardly see the background.

Every time I see the one with the 2 security cameras, it reminds me of a mech! (this isn't a complaint)

What's the reason?

You could tape sheets of paper on the sides.

They are obviously there for a reason. I see no other reason than provoking a (subconscious) emotional response in people, no matter how you look at it.

To block the full screen images that are being flashed during page loads?

SkepticOverlord invited members to choose the backgrounds.

It was done with the best of intentions and invited participation from enthusiastic members. In reality, it's impossible to please everyone or avoid annoying some. Despite that, he continues to try and refresh the background design whilst causing the least amount of outrage or dissatisfaction amongst members. The backgrounds have been popular with other members.

There are no current plans for an option to disable the background images.
