US Air Force Promises More Details on Long Range Strike-Bomber

Excellent!

Sometime next month they will release a few details on the new bomber.

So now we have a date. Let's speculate!

On the heels of a government watchdog's decision to let Northrop Grumman move forward with development of the US Air Force’s Long Range Strike-Bomber, the service plans to release additional details about the secretive program in March.

The Air Force will unveil previously undisclosed information about its next-generation bomber sometime in the coming weeks, likely in the first week of March, said Lt. Gen. Mike Holmes, deputy chief of staff for strategic plans and requirements, Feb. 18 during an event hosted by the Mitchell Institute.

Already popped up in one of the LRS-B threads. Zaph snarked they'd say it has two engines and piloted would be the extent of the details.

Yup, and I wonder if it's needed with the rise of AI. The reason for them is given as a recallable weapon of choice where an ICBM, SLBM or cruise missile is not recallable once fired at a target. However, advanced AI may render human pilots as an unnecessary expense and drag on the bomber. How things have changed since I got out.

They'd have to be able to put AI on every system, which would make it prohibitively expensive.
