I didn't realize they were still flying....I knew about the slats and thought it was instant side slip straight down.

Do I remember right.......there are three bolt points....one in the back and two up front, and my old nemesis the mechanics had to undo the front two then the rear one on the pylon......and that was a bad configuration breaking the back one

edt ta add...I think of this about every month or so as I re-live Branniff, on the ramp at D F W....long about '78 hey, now I can replace that with a different picture....same as a MU-2...don't touch the flaps or throttle on a lift-off fail of any kind.
Remember that....most say flaps up and reduce power....not me

so when the voice recorder has him say damn, he didn't see the horror....just felt an engine lock-up....best not to faint at the wheel on lift-off....because of something you saw
