Our adopted kitty, Seiko, has a manifest of personal nomenclature.

Seiko.
Zeta - 7.
Zombie Death Cat.
Bonecruncher.
Fuzzball.
Kitty.
Tempest Destroyer of Worlds.
Bag of Hammers.

(to name a few)

She's an oddball, but golly darn - don't know what we'd do without her.

still going strong i see...
last time i mentioned a few of the names for my old ginger male...
tonight is for the original tiny black sidewalk-pirate who first MEOWED at my sack of chinese take-out when i was coming home back in Y2K.

shes called Merry

but she has been called:
merrycat
merrycats
ms merrycats
kitty-girl
ms kitty my girl
schnizzle
schnizzle-boo
schnizzle-beans
schnizzle-cats (as in "Oh! you is my schnizzle-cats!")

now these some of her more common names
i wasnt really honest last time in that i then also shared only common names

but the truth is i have whispered secret names to each of them more than once

but i cannot repeat them here, lest i betray my allegience

That's a great question.

It is merely another way to visualize data other than a graph.

The names that are larger have a higher rank than those that are smaller.

Something that is interesting is that "Treacle" is huge.

Etymology

Historically, the Middle English term treacle was used by herbalists and apothecaries to describe a medicine (also called theriac or theriaca), composed of many ingredients, that was used as an antidote treatment for poisons, snakebites, and various other ailments.

Triacle comes from the Old French triacle, in turn from (unattested and reconstructed) Vulgar Latin triacula, which comes from Latin theriaca the latinisation of the Greek θηριακή (thēriakē), the feminine of θηριακός (thēriakos), "concerning venomous beasts", which comes from θηρίον (thērion), "wild animal, beast".

Treacle

How awesome are words, right?

Golly. You're sharp, and I, like, totally get it.

My present BooBoo is also known as "The Whip".

Named after the character played in the Netflix program House of Cards, Ex-House Majority Whip Frank Underwood.

My family has had a lot of cats, and most have just been referred to by the name they were given with one or two notable exceptions. My current cat however gets called everything but the names we gave her (she has a full, and grandiose title, in accordance with TS Eliot and a shortened, familiar, version for convenience). She answers to "Kitty" only, but that is variously prefixed with "Evil" "Killer" or "Crazy" according to what she is being called out for. She is also "Pretty" and "Princess" on rare occasions. And often "Silly". When in evil ninja mode, she is "Kit-Aye". She is also my "Ickle Baby", but she prefers it if I keep that between her and I, she has a reputation to uphold after all.

Pretty Kitty...

Killer Kitty...

BTW, the technique she is employing to lacerate my feet in the bottom picture, I call bunny rabbit feet...it is not cute and cuddly bunniness, more about her digging into my flesh. Ahhh...bless her

After some consideration, I believe I have her neck in a reverse pincer grip between the two toes.

My previous cats were kitty and Snickers. However snickers passed away half a year ago it must be now. I used to call them anything but mostly both I would call kitty or cat, sometimes cat 1 and cat 2. I had all kinds of names for them when they were kitties, but now cant even remember them.

Got two kitties now, Patches, and Snowflake. Patches I got plenty of names I call her, mostly because it the friendliest and curious cat I ever seen, and always see her up to things, while snowflake kind is more of a homebody. But ya, for the first cat, Patches the hyena, Patches Von Patchestien, Patches the mighty, friendlyareno, Patches the cuddler, Cuddly patches, toebiter, runs into walls.

Dont have as many for snowflake, but generally Snowball, or Snowflakes, or Peno, or little Hitler "on account that she has a black patch under her nose that looks like a tiny mustache" Sometimes I call her Mein Fuhrer, but only sometimes.

As for the other cat, Kitty. They dont get along with the new cats, hisses and walks away every time and fights with the dog all the time if they get in proximity. Patches always tries to get friendly with the older cat but still nothing but hisses. She is getting on in age, over 15 yrs old I think. Like her sister she is getting up there in age and her time will come eventually. Generally now I still call her kitty, but secretly I call her fatty, or wobbly barrel because it looks like she swallowed a barrel, she has been packing on the pounds for winter.

I had a cat back in my college days named Trouble. The joke being where Maria goes, Trouble follows. My family is a regular laugh riot.

Anyhoo, Trouble's secret names included:
TroubleWoubles
DoubleTrouble
Devil Cat
Demon Cat
Clawed Beasty of the Netherworld
Satan's Minion
Sugar Puddin'
SweetsieWeetsie
and, of course, That Damn Cat

Then again, my little family has been known to have the odd pet name or three.

A goldfish named Shrimp Fried Rice, and a Guinea pig named Beatro MegaBot.

Go figure.
