"I fully accept that my views on many issues are not compatible with the power structure and the nominating base of the Democratic Party," Webb told reporters at the National Press Club in Washington. The current Democratic hierarchy, he said, "is not comfortable with many of the policies laid forth, and frankly I am not that comfortable with many of theirs."

It's not terribly surprising, Webb has been polling in 4th place at 1.3% behind a guy who isn't even running (Biden) according to realclearpolitics.com

Webb has left open the idea of an independent run though;

Webb said he “would have significant financial help” if he ran as independent, based on what people have told him.

Looks more like the Democratic race dropped him. Maybe half a dozen Republican presidential candidates can look to Webb for leadership and be reminded that the party has left the gate without them.

I know your probably being sarcastic , but just incase Former Virginia Senator & Vietnam Vet Jim Webb
The only democrat up there that made the most sense. Independent Run will split the Dems and repubs like always.

Webb (independent)
Trump (independent)

Clinton (dem)
Rubio (rep)

Probably how it will go

Webb wouldn't split the vote nearly as much as Trump. To "split" the vote effectively, you need to be liked by the party you are splitting from.

Now if Bernie Sanders ran as an independent with Trump doing the same... that would be pretty interesting. Carson, Clinton, Trump, and Sanders in a battle royale.

The little time he got he used to complain about how little time he was getting, which is fair but didn't really get much out. And then decided to end it with just a comment about him killing a dude.

Carson?
Never. Wrong color for the party base. Geriatric white people still make up the repub party base so much so that they send busses to pick them up from nursing homes.

It may change in 15-20 years when the baby boomers who remember (or worse appreciated) seperate but equal start dying off in droves. Until then, maybe a Cuban might get the nod, not this time around, but maybe next?

IMO Jim Webb is seeking to be Secretary of Defence in the Clinton admin. He entered the race to highlight his qualifications for the role of Secretary of Defence and not to win his party's nomination. The 2016 Democratic race is a bore with Clinton being a shoe in.

Nice strawman argument you have there. Stay classy.
