Who cares!?

I mean, the money used to initially buy the firearms came from us, the tax slaves.

Its not as though the government actually gives as sh*t as to how it wastes our money.

Whats more insane is that there are those people (and groups) who advocate that the government should actually be getting MORE of our income.

Wouldnt it just be easier if we cut out the middle man?

Instead of the government wasting our money (or almost literally burning it), why dont we just do it ourselves?

Lets just take a portion of our income, convert it into cash and set it on fire.

Knowing how the government works.

They would of spent money putting up a RFP.

Then companies competing for the work would of submitted pricing. More than likely a few million for putting together an auction.

And probably a company competing for the RFP would of sued because they didn't win.

So the cost balloons over some 10million after the trial and cost over runs.

All in all they probably saved tax payers a ton of cash melting the guns down.

So the Attorney General of Hawaii is not a credible source, but Wiki is?

Data released by the Hawaii Attorney General’s Office shows that 420,409 firearms were registered from 2000 to 2014, in addition to the already existing one million firearms in a state that has an estimated population of 1.4 million.

‘Anti-gun stupidity’ That's an interesting title. There's about 7 billion people that think the gun culture in the US is just that.... stupid. So you'll have to be a little more specific. Are you just looking for American back pats or is this actually a real discussion?

Just to put this in perspective for you, it would be like a relative of yours passing away, and leaving you a gun collection, and instead of you selling it to someone, you smash them or melt them down. Sure you have every right to do it, but most would think you were a bit loony for choosing that option. Even if you were a rabid anti gun guy from some other country than the US.

I want to comment, but can't find the words to express how utterly moronic an action this was!

We need IQ tests for politicians.

Yeah, because having a high density population (as Hawaii does) and a low gun homicide rate that compares to all other developed countries (unlike the rest of the US), is just the definition of stupidity, right?

I would personally argue its a good sign of a low IQ when people start defining stupidity as preserving human life and making the streets a safer place to live.... but that's just me.

Destroying handguns isn't making anyone safer. Plus, according to this site - link - the crime rate for Hawaii is 27.59% higher than the national average. Perhaps if more citizens there had guns, it would be lower. Crime rates drop with increased gun ownership.
