through hell and back, an American story of an ATSer

Been pretty hit or miss for me these last few months.

Mostly miss, but without the bad, the good just don't seem as great.

Now I am back on the upswing, feeling pretty well, got my mind in a good place and intend to keep it there.

Long story short, I had to move halfway across the country on 3 days notice, with little money and no help at all.

When I was at my lowest point, and I mean really really low, like hadn't eaten in 3 days, half a tank of gas and $25 to my name.

No job, no place to stay, looking at at least 3 weeks minimum before I could cash out a 401k for a few hundred bucks to get by on until I find some work.

It wasn't my family or friends that gave me a hand up, it was an ATSer that kept me off the streets.

The oddest part, we have had some cross words several times.

I was even instructed to feel no gratitude or pull any punches with them in the future.

I have been told to "never speak of this again!! ".

But having been off ats for the better part of 3 months now( because as soon as im just getting my crap together some a hole breaks into my car and steals my phone, causing me to miss the call for a great job) I have thought of this nonstop.

Well I got a new phone, got a promotion at work effectively getting a 1/3 pay raise( see kids, hard work pays off) and am on the uptick sharply.

In short, thank you ATSer that shall remain nameless, you really did save this man from the tinder mercies of the cold hard streets.

I have lived your advice, I have am and will the rest of my days pay it forward because of you.

I have honestly never had anyone do for me what was done for me by an anonymous internet handle.

This experience has changed me for the better forever.

Some of you love me, others respect me, I dare say some despise me in one thread and like me in others.

I have a very "unconventional " take on many topics, and what has been described as an "abrasive " personality at times.

Love me, hate me...... I'm back ATS, and thrilled to know I am able to participate in the nets best forum again!!!!!!!!!

Glad to hear you made it through the fire! Even more estatic to hear we still have humans in the world these days. The dollar has turned us all into dead president blood hounds, most people could care less about another human condition.

I will say just this, they helped me, in my time of greatest need, I was about to be lost in the sea of despair this situation can cause.

They didn't do it for recognition, they did it for the right reasons.

I was drowning, they did the human thing, they saved me from a cruel and terrible fate.

I was at the edged the void, of all those I know, of all those I previously helped, this one peron for no reason but to do the right thing helped me, I have never helped them at anything.

The act was fully selfless, asking nothing in return period.

Not repayment, not admiration, just to remember.

I got help at my need.

Help others!!

I was honestly Godsmackted.

There are many good people out here in the world John and I am so glad that you have managed to land on your feet with the help of one of those good people.

Just goes to show that some people care about others in this crazy self indulged age.

I would do the same thing for you if you were in my neck of the woods.

I am sure no one will ask for this members identity , but as i stated above many will wonder , and is not wondering what this site is partly about . My psychiatrist once told me that if you leave this world a better place for having entered it you have fulfilled yourself as a person . This member has certainly done this .

Not even my brother would help me.

He never not ever once had to ask.

Obviousely knew I wouldhelphim.

I only once in 37 years got that same treatment.

Above every dark and cloudy sky... the sun always ends up by shining...
