I saw this and thought some of you guys would appreciate it. It looks eerily cool

Basically, it works something like this… “Since each frame has to ensure the blade is in the same position as the last it therefore needs to be in sync with the rpm of the rotar blades. Shutter speed then needs to be fast enough to freeze the blade without too much motion blur within each frame.

Here the rotor has five blades, now lets say the rpm of the rotor is 300. That means, per rotation, a blade is in a specific spot on five counts. That gives us an effective rpm of 1500. 1500rpm / 60secs = 25.

Therefore shooting at 25fps will ensure the rotor blades are shot in the same position every frame. Each frame then has to be shot at a fast enough shutter speed to freeze the blade for minimal motion blur.”

Anyone else think this is pretty cool?

Very cool. Kinda like if you look at a ceiling fan and blink just right you can make it appear to be standing still.

Reminded me a little of this one, where the train seems to go both ways depending where you look. Not exactly the same synchronization-wise but still weird.

I got it to switch 3 times while starring. It's pretty hard to get my brain to re decide what something is.. Not bad for me in 28 seconds. Without looking away.

That helicopter was creepy. Ha.

Yeah the train one is weird! I notice that when I use the underground tubes in London.

I see 2 threads touting the video as proof of Anti-Gravity.. this is a different thread OP altogether, albeit using the same video. Chill out Phage man.

Isn't that called rotoscoping? They did some of that in Risky Business , Love on a real train?

Another effect with tracking…

That's cool.

My mate used to take pictures at raves and parties with the shutter speed turned down low and you'd get a similar effect. Made glowsticks look like some sort of crazy lightsaber.

Pretty weird.

Its pretty cool, you can get some wacky effects sometimes when filming or at the right moment and time. But really 25fps, when was this filmed? In the stone age using Fred Flintstones camera?

Ah just messing, heres something like it in regular none moving picture format.

I wonder if you can use it to stop things in the air that's flying faster then eye can catch and put them to stand still?
And maybe that why some photograph that particular image that didn't had been seen before the shot was taken?
