Missing the Coffee Thread

Today I was surfing around old threads and started reading a thread I had a while back called My Morning Coffee, Come Share a cup.

It is closed now due to it's size and people getting carried away in it.
We were all just having fun, but sometimes it is easy to stray away from T&Cs when you are jacked up on coffee (or sometimes beer etc)
I allowed any beverage as the point was to make friends,
talk about anything that caught someones attention or they wanted to share,
and just have a place to post when the rest of ATS was slow but you still wanted to talk to someone or share a photo not really relevant to anything else. There was a lot of fun and good times in that thread shared by all.....

What....what??
An ATS thread without arguments and disagreements?!
Is that possible??!

Yeah, it was.

As time went on, the thread grew bigger and bigger. More people stopping in to say good morning,
more friends being made by all who visited.
It was something out of the norm for ATS for the most part.
For me, it was something I looked forward to every morning,
and I miss it.

Every once and a while I will revisit the thread and reread some of the comments, look at the pictures, smile, even laugh again as it is immortalized forever in a suspended state after it almost reached 10,000 comments and 400 pages in months.

When it was closed, I told the moderators I would not start a new coffee thread as I understood that it was starting to break T&Cs here and there and although no one is really at fault for it, I did not want to cause more for the mods to moderate as I cannot be responsible for peoples coffee fueled comments and sometimes borderline inappropriate behavior.

But I miss the thread, and I miss the fun that was had there.
I have tried other threads, but none have been on the level of my coffee thread.
I was at home, my own little coffee den in ATS.

I miss the lighthearted conversations,
The ATS Air Band,
just everything....

Many of you are getting to serious.....

Don't make me bring out another monster thread of lightheartedness to counteract your serious natures.....

I miss it too, i met a lot of people i consider friends there as well.. it's was fun, and a place to talk without going "Off Topic" in other topics.

We got to meet people outside of a debate and discussions and have fun..

Don't know if this is your cup of tea, I mean coffee, but we don't break the rules and have fun chatting and some of us add to an ongoing story which is written in a different colored font so it is easier to follow.

Kind of slow right now with it being Summer for most of us right now, but still fun and interesting.

it was never the intent and I was never told why exactly,
though I also never really asked either.

A little tip from a fellow coffee-holic. (11:30 pm and I'm enjoying a cup right now )

Try just a little teeny-tiny drop of butter in your next cup. I love it.

Thanks for the pointer, you are not the first to suggest it, you are the 2nd within a month after never hearing anyone suggest it my entire life.....

Maybe in the morning I will try it and report back on my findings...

We are always happy to have people stop in and join us!!!! I always wonder how many people might be lurking. Anyone can stop in at any time. No need to be shy. We might be rather nutty at times, but we don't bite.

There are no better folks than those here at ATS! I mean, look how interesting we are, we are into conspiracies, paranormal, cryptozoology, UFOS, and numerous other topics. We are anything but boring. LOL

Ok, I've never heard of butter in coffee, but I have enough bad habits and shouldn't be adding to them. LOL

I suggested a thread like this again.

So this is a call out for every member getting kicked out of McDonald's after half an hour . Us old folks could start a thread , There would be far less arguing and pickering with the exception of the subject of the millennia generation .


We could put an age limit 50 and over . And a cap on how long you can post . You would have to get on the thread on your 1st cup of coffee. Then leave after your first bowel movement . As Beazer pointed out him in subline could be "regulars " !!! ( on the a.m. bowel movement thread ) Lol
