Ummm...I don't know where you live...but it was cold here this weekend...

These are the things as they happened here yesterday...I wrote them down...not for any historical record...but rather...just because...
I'm sure you can relate...

An hour hence

I surreptitious climb back into bed
Gently pull the covers round my head
Breath would warm the reaches neath the quilt
I lazy lay yet warming feel no guilt

So cold this morning yet I light no fire
The starlings nest the chimney inquire
In silence then acknowledge them their due
I put away the match nor move the flue

I'm sure some mundane task I'd occupy
Yet comfort claims attention when I try
Just thinking of some chore dismiss instead
I burrow even further in the bed

An hour hence or yet this afternoon
Is soon enough or even comes too soon
When hunger pangs and rumbles from within
Would coarse conspire with cold and surely win

Somehow I managed to sleep through most of the day and all night too...such a short hibernation...

a reply to: Night Star

Ummm...Hello again Night Star...I can count on one hand the few times I've ever slept the day away...but boy it sure was nice...
Thankfully the bedroom was far enough away from the starlings chittering in the chimney...

I hope it's warmed up where you live
