A massive blaze has engulfed the ‘Marina Torch’ skyscraper in Dubai, forcing thousands of people to flee the 336-meter-high tower – one of the tallest residential buildings in the world.

The fire started in the middle of the tower, rapidly spreading across some 15 floors, according to photos and videos from the scene.

As the fire spread, chunks of the facade were seen falling down. Thousands of people were evacuated, gulfnews.com reported.

Massive Fire Skyscraper Dubai

I hope they have gotten enough people out it in time.

Skyscraper fires are difficult to put out, and we can only hope because of it being a fairly new building they have thought about fire safety good enough.

Now let's just see if this one "falls into is own foot print" as well as the WTC ones. After all it's a "massive fire".

Weird how it looks like there are two seperate fires dozens of stories apart and on different sides of the building.

if it comes down, it collapses irregular. Meaning some will stand and some will fall and it for ruse won't fall vertical. If it doesn't fall, as so far none have done who were on fire, then one more question why the WTC came so "perfectly" down.

Of course, don't let science get in the way or the fact that this fire is not fed by thousands of gallons of jet fuel.
Lets also ignore that the main supports for this building have not been impacted by a massive metal object at great speed.
Lets also ignore that this building was constructed in 2011, in a different country, meaning building materials and methods will be entirely different.

Nice try of what? No building regardless of what material it is made of collapses in its own footprint during a fire. It will always collapse irregular with often some parts remaining perfectly intact.

Well if this skyscraper was constructed in 2011, how in the HELL does a fire spread rapidly 15 FLOORS? Even the old apartment bldg I live in has SPRINKLERS.

Chief O'Hallorhan: [sighs] Architects.
Doug Roberts: Yeah, it's all our fault.
Chief O'Hallorhan: Now, you know there's no sure way for us to fight a fire in anything over the seventh floor, but you guys just keep building 'em as high as you can.
Doug Roberts: Hey. Are you here to take me on, or the fire?

Somehow this reminds me of this.

I hope they got everyone out in time.
