I'm just sayin'...

I don't delete cookies.

I don't block anything here or elsewhere.

I don't log out of ATS.

The ads are way less intrusive for me here than they are other places.

I actually (and I know this is crazy talk) occasionally click on an ad (GASP!) because the ads I see are frequently for something in which I have an interest. In fact, within the past month I bought a Logitech MK710 keyboard I found off an ad here after looking at keyboards on Amazon.

You gotta get your Zen on and go with the flow. The more you fight it, the more you'll see them, the more annoyed you'll be, the more you'll fight it...

Of course, YMMV.

imagine walking down the street and someone jumping in your path, Forcing you to stop and test their product...

And even after you say no they grab you and try to shove it down your throat

That... IS a popup

I hate it!

Nope.

Seriously, don't log out. I couldn't tell you the last time I saw a popup here.

You don't have to stay on line. I shut my computer off all the time. But I don't have to log back in to ATS when I come to the site, because I don't log out.

Im yet another person agreeing.

Some products i like because they work, im happy with the company - but then a pop up or another agressive ad campain comes up and i actually find myself looking at COMPETITORS, simply because i have such a total hatred for adverts in TV and internet anyway it just turns me off to the point of giving up somthing i actually like and some times settling for the least offensive product.

Gee wizz, i am a bitter old man now, 30 more years when im 60, watch out world, im going to be one of millions of old grumpy old people sick to high heaven of being force fed, luminous, flashing, annoying, catchy tuned adverts. (Isnt it sad to hear kids running around singing macdonalds advertisement songs instead of old Mac Donald and his farm?

We got really good at simply ignoring adverts, the markers noticed and stepped it up a level.

What next? Extreme subliminal dream adverts? My dreams are the last space of enjoyment and escape not invaded - if the marking people knew how they would come to your dreams, in fact i bet thats what they dream about!

Feddy Krueger is coming for you, sponsored by XXX cola inc.

Popups are the interwebs version of rape. You don't want it, but you're forced to take it.

For top-market sites like major news/entertainment sites, it's not as difficult. Their higher-value volume and demographics do reasonably well on those automated ad exchanges/marketplaces.

I get that, but the trouble with the like of pop-ups, they pay no heed to the reality of when something becomes of marginal satisfaction anyway, something that manufacturer's of a real product have understood for a long time, that there is a saturation point. A bit like, buying and eating a Mars bar...you can only eat so many of the fecking things at any one time, which is not like buying a car, which is more of a one off. Pop-ups totally ignore that, and just follow your online actions over and over again, even though the time for marginal satisfaction has been and gone, and is in fact over.
Youtube follows the same tracking methods to the point of silly lately, If you want to look at say, a video vehicle test, you get that, plus some alternatives, plus a Moon landing video. Now, they are also splitting the whole screen into segments which you don't see unless you happen to have the mouse sitting somewhere on the video screen, while still having other visible captions to either open or close, and while the obvious reason is to close them, and then all this other crap appears to the point that it's like trying to swat a fly, while all you want is some content from a simple video.

I never log out but every time I close the internet and come back in I get popups.

EVERYTIME, that one with the skin pulling off happens when I first click on something.

And now we have a popup in the right hand corner that plays videos that does not load properly half the time and for me its always playing car ads.

Waiting for it to load so I can even click the X is hilariously annoying.....

I am not in the market for a car, especially one that is in a small screen at the corner........

The really sad thing is that even if you click and buy on one of these adds , the next time you start your computer the add is still going to pop up . Grrrrr .

Now on a bright side . With the 306,217 members plus visitors i would like to ask if anyone wants to buy an iphone 6 . It seems that i am very lucky as i have won hundreds if not thousands of them .

I will never... EVER buy or even consider buying a product that popped up on a computer... especially my own computer...

You and me both! Never, ever, ever!!!

I detest being forced to watch a video ad and then to add to my irritation, it really irritates
me when I see "Please enjoy our advertisement" (!!!!!!!!!) Really?? How are you going
to snidely tell me to enjoy a forced ad that I didn't want to watch to begin with?

On my screen is an ad for either a cosmetic, beauty or anti-aging product of some sort.

It says; "SHOCKING ... OPRAH LIED" and underneath this bold caption is an animated AD CHOICES video clip (that I will not click on) of Oprah Winfrey, large-as-life, from the chest up apparently in a sitting position, wearing a white, low-cut, V-neck blouse with a middle-aged man standing close behind her forcibly gripping her hands, clenched on top of her shoulders while she is apparently being raped.

Although it doesn't show anything below the chest line it sure appears that she is either being raped or engaged in a wild and rather rough porn session while being videotaped and with the impression that she is naked from the chest down.

This highly offensive animated ad appears on the ATS home-page, perfectly positioned right amongst the thread titles where one can't help but see this offensive ad... it displays large-as-life on my screen every day for the past week or so.

I don't need to be logged on to see it. I have to stick a dark-colored post-it note on my screen to cover this offensive distraction if it's close to the thread titles I am reviewing. It's offensive, disgusting and disturbing and I have not been able to get rid of it.

I'm sure Oprah would be livid, appalled and shocked if she saw herself being exploited and used in this way to push some crappy product.
