Being born pregnant is so rare it has only been documented 200 times, but it does happen. Now researchers are reporting this week in the Hong Kong Medical Journal on the November 2010 case of a newborn girl thought to have two tumors in her abdomen that were found to be 8- to 10-week-old fetuses instead.
Weighing half an ounce and a third of an ounce, they were far enough along to each have four limbs, a spine, a rib cage, intestines, and an anus, and to be connected through an umbilical cord to a single placenta-like mass.
The condition, called fetus in fetu, is thought to occur in 1 in 500,000 births worldwide.
The World Health Organization has classified it as a type of cancer called mature teratoma, but researchers write "the theory of demised multiple pregnancy has gained much support recently. More evidence is needed to confirm either theory."
The abnormality, called "fetus in fetu", is reported in the latest issue of the Hong Kong Medical Journal published today.
The condition is extremely rare and occurs in 1 in 500,000 births in the world. Less than 200 cases have ever been reported in literature, and to date, this was only the second regional case reported, the study said.
Dr Yu Kai-man, a specialist in obstetrics and gyneacology, believed it was the first documented case in the city. He explained fetus in fetu is a rare condition of external fertilisation embryo, and the fetus was unlikely to survive.
"It was almost impossible to detect during the prenatal check-up, as the embryo inside the baby was too small," said Yu, a former professor at Chinese University of Hong Kong.
But it suggested it was possibly linked to the mother having multiple abortions. The report said that more evidence was needed to confirm either theory.
"The widespread use of antenatal ultrasound in early gestation may provide more concrete evidence … and shed light on this intriguing condition," the report said.

I've had a chicken lay an egg that had another egg inside of it.

I have never, EVER, heard of this. How is this possible?
I winder if there is any possibility of the fetuses surviving without the infant mother? Obviously the young mother is not physically developed enough to withstand nursing the growing baby for 9 months, but is there anyway for the fetus's to grow outside of the infant mother?
That is some weird amazing stuff.

You know, this is the weird kind of thing that I had no idea existed but in the back of my head is why i would not have sex with my wife at any point during her four pregnancies. I dont know if having sex while pregnant can cause this or not, and frankly that thought never entered my mind. I just think having sex while pregnant is inappropriate. Now I can use this odd occurrence as another excuse not too.
I too was wondering if they could maybe have incubated the fetuses outside of the infant. Imagine a mother and her children being nearly the exact same age. That would be crazier than having a uncle or aunt that is younger than thyself.

You didn't want to have sex with your wife because you were afraid when your baby was born they were going to come out, thump you in the head over and over and say, "See! How do YOU like it!"

haha lol I have heard that joke during each of the pregnancies as my friends cannot seem to fathom why I would not like to have pregnant sex. I think I see it more as violating a sacred time or some crazy ish like that. maybe it just bugs me out. Who knows.
Either way it is not something I have an interest in during those particular months.

According to the article there's no way for them to survive. They were only 8-10 weeks old. That's barely 2 months. Unless they find a way to do a womb transfer without the host rejecting the new fetuses (Maybe in the future?) Also as much as they had most parts, they weren't fully developed yet and were still missing some parts. It would be interesting if that COULD theoretically happen. Maybe with another case eventually.

well im only 29 and she is 31, so we could just pop babies out for another decade if we wanted too. At this point though, I would like to wait till the last two are out of diapers at least. They are only eleven months apart. What is the big deal about pregnant sex?? What is it that makes it the best time for a woman, maybe you can tell me as it sounds like you may have first hand knowledge/experience??
As far as the baby girls though, I believe China should have at least taken steps to attempt to make new scientific breakthroughs and used the opportunity to attempt to achieve the impossible. Considering the population though, they can probably try again within another decade.

Women who are preggers get mega horny. Not utilizing that phenomenon is ludicrous.
I just....can't...she can get horny all she wants...the belly just ruins it for me.
