Shot at the 1 min mark, calls for medical at 230...

Let this be a lesson for y'all, don't drop your phone while running from the police or you will be shot in the back.

Yes I know I will get, "just don't run from the police"

Last time I checked its not a crime punishable by death so save it please.

ETA: I guess it could of been the gun, don't see how he would of had time to put it back in his waist band which is where is seems like the cop pulled it out

Dropped a gun used in a previous crime which would land him a conviction if discovered. If he hadn't stopped to pick it up, he would still be alive. However, he chose death over jail.

You couldn't pay me enough to be a cop.

The guy was armed, right? It wasn't a phone

Ah yeah that's what I saw/heard. We were typing at the same time.

Not a great decision.

Ya reason I had phone in my head is that he had that in his hand when he ran and it seems like the other cop pulled it from his body.

It just seems like what ever he picked up he never really back to his body before he was shot.

Yeah it all kinda happened fast and slow at the same time.

Guess in this case having a body cam is valuable. It just shook me how intense it got.

Let that be a lesson to anyone who is getting cuffed and decides to run away clutching a glock in their hand.

And Even if your not holding a gun. if you are being arrested for carrying weapons. Don't try to run away...

This guy Either wanted a Death wish, Which he got. Or he just really really really didn't want to go to jail. He bet against his life vs the police and lost.

I Think the Officer did right in this scenario.

He knew 100% the man was armed.
The guy is considered dangerous.
But i guess that's what happens when you put your life on the line... Instead of doing the Time.

Was there a body cam for the officer who retrieved the weapon?

He saved the tax payers the cost of a trial.

It also shows how inaccurate witnesses can be. Someone was claiming he didn't have a gun.

If you escalate the situation with the police all bets are off. If you didn't do anything wrong you shouldn't be running from the cops. This cop explicitly asked the guy if he had anything on him that could harm him. If he wasn't going to use the gun against the police officer, why bend down and pick it up? Sorry, but this guy caused his own death.

1 up for police video cams, 0 for criminals.

The more you watch death the easier it will find you.

Oh and shooting someone in the back in that situation is not justified. You can not go around shooting everyone in the back because they have a gun or else the same comes back to you. There are karmic rules to these things.

Hmmm good question. That might be a video to release too.

My two cents: don't think the officer pulled the gun from subject's waistband. Given how low his shorts were riding, I don't think the gun was tucked. Looks to me like it was either under his body or directly in front of his body after the officer rolled him over. The way the body was positioned, the officer would've had a hard time getting the weapon out of the waistband without rolling him over further or yanking on the weapon.

Also, it appears to me that the officer engaged the subject when he started to come back up after picking the weapon up off the ground. There's a bit of a delay for me when I watch the clip between video and audio, but I think the slide on the officer's weapon starts moving when the subject picks up the gun.

I think the lesson would be don't run from the police while pulling a gun.

Man I didn't hear a "stop or I shoot".
And getting shot in the back for running away. Crazy

Not sure if you're implying that it was planted or not.

If so, that was some good sleight of hand.

I admit I have a hard time with a lot of things I read or see about LEOs nowadays, but this is one instance where I think the force used was appropriate. That was split second decision making. I think he made the right call. Good thing the video exists.

No the lesson is do not shoot someone unless they are trying to harm you. The question is always intent.

Cue the mother or grandmother saying he was a good kid on the way to store for some skittles and wanted to be an astronaut and recently finished recording a rap single. He had literally the day before "turned his life around."

Looks like body cams do their jobs pretty well. I am sad for that mad that died, but I imagine this video shows the officer following policy.
