Interim Prime Minister Iyad Allawi has stated that Hassan Ibrahim Farhan has been killed by Iraqi security forces. Prime Minister Iyad Allawi made a televised address to Iraq's National Council, but would not elaborate on details citing security concerns.

Mr Allawi said those captured were responsible for carrying out the beheadings of several hostages in Iraq.

Zarqawi has claimed responsibility for many of the worst attacks to take place in Iraq over the past year, including beheadings of foreigners.

A group allied to Zarqawi said it had carried out a suicide car bomb attack on Monday on a checkpoint near Baghdad's heavily protected Green Zone, which killed at least nine people and wounded 19.

This is good news, maybe he'll lead us to the man himself.

On a separate note but in the same speech, Allawi has also announced that trials of former members of Saddam's regime will begin next week. Apparently lawyers representing said members will not recognise the legitimacy of any courts "established under US occupation" - they don't really have much of a choice do they??

Mullah Omar Security Chief 'held'.

Provincial government spokesman Khalid Pashtun confirmed the arrests.

Officials hope documents found on the men could help find Mullah Omar or Osama Bin Laden, but some observers doubt the significance of the arrests.

It may be a while yet till you get to the man himself, but if you chip away at his posse or entourage, then he has to perform more stuff himself, increasing his visability and the likelyhood he will surface and or make a mistake and pop we get him.
