According to the live-stream from Channel 7, the Opera house was cleared, and is secure.

The focus is the lindt Chocolate shop.

So now we have a breakfast place, the opera house (but not the opera house) and a chocolate shop? Or is this all just the confusing rumor mill flying in the heat of the moment?

To the OP, please adhere to the ATS T&C's that require more than a minimal post, which includes YOUR opinions on the topic as well. For example, WHERE is this taking place? That one simple fact is not included in our OP.

THanks

Then why not post THAT in the OP and not 7 posts into the thread? We all have to adhere to these rules, even if it means we don't get to be "first" posting something. All I ask is we all follow the rules we agreed to when we joined.

Sorry, it's Lindt Chocolat Cafe. I hear "cafe" and I think "coffee shop".

I'm not in Australia, so. Please do excuse the mistake.

A siege situation is underway in Sydney's Martin Place as a gunman holds up a Lindt Chocolate Cafe.

Police have confirmed an operation is underway after officers were called to the shop around 9:45am on Monday.

The OP may be lacking in detail and that is a bit annoying, but self appointed Mods are even more so.

On Topic : Have they said what kind of devices? I'm assuming explosives.

Yes some lone nut decided to capture hostages and force them to hold the ISIS flag in the storefront window.
ISIS is condemning this as an act of terror and are distancing themselves from this heinous act.

WTF?

Seriously, I hope the NSA and Homeland Security kick in the door of certain people and have a long conversation about why they leap to defend ISIS.

Some of the Islamic community have been supporting ISIS by sending money and people to fight. In fact these people have sent about $20 million. There have been a number of raids lately including last night.

So someone who was already being watched from an earlier raid was arrested last night. Then "packages" were discovered at the Opera house and it was evacuated. Then the cafe was taken.

Are you implying I am defending ISIS?

Seems that it is not an ISIS flag but just one that looks similar.
What info do you have to confirm this is ISIS and not some nut?

Just cause I don't scream bomb them to hell doesn't mean I am defending them.

See that whole thing you just did right there?

See how some one could construe that as defending ISIS?

How do you know this is true?

Could it be fabricated? Could ISIS be used as a tool to take more freedoms away from Australians??

Things could be as they seem, but again, they could be nothing more than plots in a larger script.

Watch your law makers closely!!!!!!

You are building a case for the defense, you claim there is no PROOF that it's ISIS, you even go so far as to say that it's not an ISIS flag.
Tell 'ya what, gentleman's wager=- If it turns out not to be ISIS, I will never post on ATS again, if it turns out to be ISIS, you never post on ATS again, deal?
