So 'Interstellar' is out on cinemas. You might know that the exoplanets scenes from the movie were filmed in Iceland. It surely is an alien looking landmass, being one of the youngest on Earth, geologically speaking.

I had recently posted this video here. But now I'd like to know what do you consider to be the most alien looking place on Earth that's not shown in the video. Iceland and the famous Socotra Island are already there.

You second pic looks exactly like something I would expect to see. I don't know why but that's it. The way the photographed it makes it appear that it goes on like that for eternity.

I had a picture in my mind and that was it. Inhospitable, lonely, and cold.

Quite unpleasantly warm, actually. But a wasteland indeed.

Those trees look like something out of a story book. Awesome!

Goblin Valley in Utah. I went hiking there, got lost, my compass wasn't working, and nearly died.

I have been to this place:
Nong Nooch Gardens in Thailand.

Otherwordly. Almost Avatar-esque.

It's amazing but they told me that many of those plants now just grow that way after years of being groomed. Plant memory?

Black Rock Desert's Fly Geysers are pretty freaky too

And yes before you point it out Phage I know it's not a natural formation and the result of mineral build up on a test drill for water

You are standing between a [snipped] and a giant peep carved from ancient stone. If you don't find this amazing, your amazement gland is not functioning properly.

Wow! You have all contributed such lovely, fascinating pictures! I have no pictures to add, but it does hammer home to me how our little planet is so beautiful, in so many ways. And yet we abuse it terribly. Such a shame.

Look forward to seeing more. Then I can choose the best for a new desktop background.

I can see why aliens want to visit our little planet, if I had the money I would visit it too!
