Figured I would share a video of the salmon in the creek behind my place going upstream and spawning. It's not all that exciting, but make sure you
change settings to 1080. Please pardon my crappy camera skills, I was using my phone and am not all that steady or attentive until I've had coffee
(yes, this was late afternoon stop judging).
This is a short ways up the creek from me, but the easiest spot to get close. Creek gets much larger and deeper when it passes my place. I've been
watching these guys for awhile. They didn't used to stock the pond up the way, so I think this is the second run of fish here. If I leave my window
open they're loud enough that I can hear them while I'm in the master bedroom (furthest spot away). I have this weird temptation to cast off my
deck (15 feet away) and cook a fish within a few minutes of catching it, but I know they aren't fit for consumption.
I guess it's not all that interesting, but I could sit there and watch for hours. They get so close you could grab them with no effort. From where
I'm standing to the far bank is less than 10 feet away.
An old boss of mine (Hi ya Barry!) was a keen scuba diver. He actually went on a scuba vacation to swim among some kind of fish spawning orgy frenzy.
He thought it was an awesome experience , personally I think Barry is a little strange.
Does anyone ever get that thing where you're just chilling out, maybe eating a sandwich. And two putrid little flies come up and start doing on your
plate or something. Sometimes if you're lucky there's even several flies fighting over the one lady fly.
