anyone wear flat caps? best place to buy?

i have recently got into the habit of wearing them though recently, i stopped calling them flat caps and started calling them a peaky(cause of peaky blinders)
anyway, if you do wear them, where do you get them from?

i only have 1 as of right now. my wife and i were out all day and i was scoping them out and they were all really expensive or they were crap quality.

target has nice ones for $15 but not many to choose from.

i looked at hot topic, spencers, penny's, sears, lids, wal mart, and k mart...

some of them were as high has $35...no way i can do that..

i really dont want to spend more than about 15-20 bones...i can go a little higher if its awesome

so, where do you buy yours?

Flat caps are cool. I have a few. But I really like wizard's hats. They're a good conversation starter!

You get what you pay for. I have seen these at Kohl's too, but they are all really generic. One of the benefits of spending a little scratch on a good hat is that it will be fairly unique. You can definitely tell the difference between a Kengol and a $15 big box store copy. =\

the one i have i got from target and its pretty goood quality....the ones at wal mart were super junk compared to the one i have....still man...its hard for me to drop a 30 spot on a hat

I very recently bought myself a new flat cap. Its a bloody lovely weave, well stitched too, and warm and comfortable to boot!

I bought it at the Classic Cap Company store which is near where I live.

I have linked you to the page on their website which lists the styles they do. I have no idea what their overseas service is like though!

Now, it cost £29, but in my defence, it was a replacement for a very old hat which has long since been a) broken, stitching was shredded, lining was shredded from excess of use, it was old, worn and busted, and b) went missing about a year ago.

This one is more expensive than my old one was, but it will last even longer, and I had my old one since I was twelve, so it is investing in quality, and the longevity of the item. I rarely purchase myself new garments, so this was very much a purchase of necessity. One needs a hat if one is to winter by the sea, and that is where I live after all!

I wore one a few times. Probably lost it when I moved. To me flat caps will always remind me of John Candy in Planes, Trains & Automobiles.

The one he had was really nice. The texture looked smooth, almost buttery.

As it happens, I can use my hair as a scarf if I get caught in cold weather. Just put it in a pony tail, split the tail, tie the two ends together at my throat, and there you have it! Looks daft as can be of course, but there again, it looks better than pneumonia or some such thing!

I got mine at Sears, of all places. It was on sale for like $12, but the regular price of these two are $15 (they're U.S. Polo Assn. brand):

Neither of those are the one I bought (mine is dark-grey with subtle texture and white stitching), but if you're ever near a Sears, just walk in and see if they have one. Chances might by slim, but of the many I tried on before buying, fit and finish vary a LOT from hat to hat, so being able to try one on in crucial, imo.

ETA: Try this Sears search...uses the words "newsboy" "cap" and "men's."
