i really hope this does not mean what i think it does, would set the civilian space program back massively

Officials said that two people were onboard the spaceship and unconfirmed reports stated that two parachutes were seen in the air after the anomaly.

Reports stated that officials said they are still looking for the pilots.

Anomaly could mean anything, could just be a computer glitch.

isn't this a test of a changed fuel mixture? I hope it's not too significant.

i wouldn't tweet that the button flashed red briefly but everything's OK now

does anyone know at what height the burn is initiated? and can u parachute from that distance? obviously i know u can in a full spacesuit as felix did and others a while ago.

I wonder if they have a cut off point for safe ejection

The reported anomaly came after SpaceShipTwo fired up its rocket engine in flight for the first time in more than nine months. Since then, Virgin Galactic has switched the plane's fuel mixture from a rubber-based compound to a plastic-based mix — in hopes that the new formulation would boost the hybrid rocket engine's performance.

Two pilots fly in SpaceShipTwo's cockpit during a test. The most recent aerial outing was on Oct. 7, when SpaceShipTwo took an unpowered, gliding flight back to the Mojave runway.

Sounds like it can glide home. Two pilots out would seem to mean it's going to crash and be a loss.

Did it crash? CNN said there was reports of an aircraft down and there looks like burned debris on the ground...I hope the pilots were able to get out safely.
