TEL AVIV Israel (Reuters) - Jordan warned Israel on Sunday their peace treaty would be threatened by continued Jewish settlement building on occupied land sought by the Palestinians and any change to the religious status of a key Muslim shrine in Jerusalem.
"All such acts are incompatible with international law and international humanitarian law and if allowed to continue will ultimately imperil the treaty," Jordan's ambassador to Israel, Walid Obeidat, said at an event for the treaty's 20th anniversary.

There will be no change until the U.S. takes a firmer stance against Israel, human rights campaigners can do a lot but the real influence lies with the power brokers in Washington, and until they start doing something about Israel then it's the staus quo.
Yes as they are the biggest terrorist. With the most ever problems with the UN too.

Right now, Israel has fairly solid military upper hand in the region. So, if Jordan would end the piece treaty, Israel would most likely interprete that as an invitation to grab some more land, this time from Jordan.

Wow how can you think that's ok? Hope that was sarcasm. Sounds like a terrorist comment.

Jordan expects to finalize a deal next month with Noble Energy Inc to supply the kingdom with natural gas from Israel's Leviathan field, that could save at least $1.4 billion in the country's annual import energy bill, the energy minister said.
Jordan saw natural gas from huge gas reserves off the eastern Mediterranean coast as the preferred option to ease the country's energy crunch by the end of the decade, energy minister Mohammad Hamed said in an interview.

Israel does NOT want peace, it wants Palestine piece by piece.
The ongoing occupation/annexation is a war crime under international law.
How could the US defend colonial settlers ?

When Jordan and Israel signed the peace treaty Jordan gave up its claim on the West Bank with the caveat it be used for a Palestinian state.
Jordan has no lost love for Palestinians ever since Palestinians plotted to overthrow his father to seize control of the country. Jordanian military units went into a refugee camp and let loose.
Here is my question and people feel free to point out the issues with it.
Who not let Egypt and Jordan control the West Bank and Gaza strip? Let those areas be an independent nation from Israel while using the Egyptian and Jordanian security authorities to meet Israel security demand?

I think it would be a possibility given certain conditions - namely Hamas being booted out.
Israel was willing to return the Golan Heights to Syria in exchange for recognition and a peace treaty - Syria refused it.

Hamas is an idea. You can not kick out an idea. The people voted Hamas in, the people do not want peace. If Hamas is forcibly removed elements will remain that will continue attacks. Until the Palestinian people choose peace .. which they have not done since the beginning when they rejected a 2 State solution and chose War instead ... there will be no peace.
