Breaking, sounds like (so far) a gas leak from hell ..

*lots of youtube vids but they are not (and I know how to embed) embedding.

Several blasts have ripped through Kaohsiung, a city in south-western Taiwan, overturning cars and injuring over 100 people, local media reported. The cause is thought to be gas leaks in the sewage system. Heavy casualties are expected, Xinhua news agency tweeted.

Appears a 3.8 quake registered there as well. I wonder if it was a quake that ruptured the lines or if the explosion itself registered as a quake?

Ditto. That was one very sca-a-ary ride! Horrible to think of all the injuries that will surely come to pass.

See the live feed? There are like..8 huge firetrucks in a crater that goes down the entire street, on their sides and one flipped on its back! Surprised this story is getting crickets, not just here but many msm/non msm sites.

I live here (Taiwan) and this has got the local population talking due to the pictures that are almost Hollywood like, . but for how long. We had a plane crash last week and that fervor lasted about 2 days... then gone. We had a typhoon last week with fatalities.... nothing more than a passing news report. We had citizens of Taiwan protesting the nuclear power plants after Japan for less than 1 month.. then gone. Seems tragedy is like a passing fad... With that said, I love living in Taiwan and I love my Taiwanese wife.. I am just afraid that when I kick the bucket that her mourning will be over by morning.

Very brief coverage on CNN this morning. No footage, but they keep reporting that a car was blasted onto a third story rooftop in the explosion.
