POLITICS: Health & Human Service Secretary Tommy Thompson Resigns

The Secretary of Health & Human Services, Tommy Thompson, has submitted his cabinet resignation to President Bush. Mr. Thompson has indicated in recent weeks that he would resign his position for personal reasons. Prior to his cabinet appointment, Mr. Thompson was Governor of Wisconsin from 1987-2001. He is the 8th member of President Bush's cabinet to have resigned since the re-election.



In his resignation speech, Mr. Thompson said it has been a privilege to serve as Secretary of HHS. He cited the desire to spend more time with his family as key to the "difficult decision" to resign.

Good riddance. It's any wonder why there is not enough vaccines for this new bird flu. I used to live in Wisconsin when he was governor. He's corrupt (in the 90's during one of his terms he used hundreds of thousands of taxpayers money/donations to renovate his home and build a swimming pool) and he's a moron (when giving a speech in Northern Wisconsin about creating a tax for a new stadium for one of the most losing teams in baseball (The Brewer's), he stated that the majority of the tax (over $800M) would fall on the residents in the city (Milwaukee) of the new stadium and said "Let's stick it to Milwaukee". That gives you an idea of the man''s character. Pond scum comes to mind.
