Somebody has compiled a list of things we all should consider.

The entire illegal immigrant (illegal for many reasons) failure is costing big money and it keeps getting worse.

The politicians have tried over and over to solve the problems but nothing works as it gets worse by the day it seems.

The standard suspicions are in play; various welfares, medical care, no law enforcement, etc. etc.

We even see evidence of the U.S. Government and NGOs actually encouraging the selective non-enforcement as well as advertising to further the onslaught.

Something's gotta give soon enough one way or the other.

I wonder what the "success" rate is for illegal immigrants in the U.S. ??

Is anybody really better off like the sales pitches say ??

Or are these people really victims in any sense ??

Check the "List"

Should we roll out the red carpet and allow millions upon millions of thieves, rapists, gang members and drug dealers to come waltzing into this country any time they would like? Should we broadcast a message to the rest of the world that anyone that can find a way to enter this country and somehow get to a “sanctuary city” can sign up for a plethora of welfare benefits and live a life of leisure at the expense of hard working American citizens?

19 rings a bell.....
John Titor: Texas is still there but Spanish is a lot more popular.

#19 It is being projected that the Senate immigration bill will bring 33 million more people to the United States over the next decade.

In fact, you can go down to the Texas border right now and watch illegal immigrants hop right across the Rio Grande.

an illegal is the poster boy for the conservative ideology.

what do cons say? dont expect a hand out, work hard, pull yourself up by the bootstraps.

as im on a first name basis with illegals, thats exactly what i see. they are afraid of getting deported so they dont go out for welfare, they work hard doing jobs americans wont, they save their money or send it home. their only crime is having the courage to go to where the jobs are.

your average american wont even move to a different city to get a job, much less a thousand miles.

illegals live the conservative mantra. cons just talk about it.

This list is BS.

Very first item is an effort (by you, the source, and the dubious, eugenics-founded CIS) to conflate statistics of LEGAL and illegal immigrants.

From your source:

#1 57 percent of all households that are led by an immigrant (legal or illegal) are enrolled in at least one welfare program.

So what does EXACTLY this say about illegal immigrants? Illegal immigrants are not eligible for ANY of the means-tested social welfare programs.

The next "fact" from your source:

#2 According to one study, the cost to U.S. taxpayers of legalizing current illegal immigrants would be approximately 6.3 trillion dollars over the next 50 years.

This is a fact? No. This is an estimate from a single Heritage Foundation report, published in the Washington Times. A report that was quickly dismantled, as it is in this Times article on the very same day. Shoddy methodology, questionable assumptions, etc.

This is a manufactured crisis. This year's Benghazi to keep the conservative base frothing at the mouth with anger.

A stolen identity or an anchor baby and they end up with cheap housing, food and medical.

I don't mean to disagree with you so rapidly, but don't children of illegal immigrants get welfare benefits? Don't these parents get to stay in the country? Who do you think dispenses those benefits?

No this is a myth. Illegal aliens are not eligible for food stamps, welfare, medicare/medicaid, social security, etc.

Undocumented immigrants are ineligible for SNAP. Additionally, there is already a strict waiting period for documented immigrants. Documented adult immigrants (those with a greencard) are subject to a five-year waiting period before they are eligible for SNAP.
Noncitizens make up a very small portion of SNAP participants – only 4% of participants are noncitizens (documented immigrants or refugees).[xxxiv]

A stolen identity? Care to share some facts about how prevalent this is? Parents of these children are deported all of the time. Look it up. The child cannot petition the court to have their parents allowed into the U.S. legally until the age of 21. Even then, that child would have to demonstrate that not only could he support himself, but the parent or parents being sponsored as well.

That article is propaganda filled from beginning to end. The first paragraph is disgusting & hateful. And this is coming from someone that believes in fully closing the border.

#12 - Arizona tried to pass a law that would infringe on Hispanic Americans rights. Correct me if I'm wrong..police had a "right" to stop you if you didn't look Caucasian? Heck they do it already, they just wanted to make it look justifiable.

#13 & 14 - Gangs are a problem that will always exist. Invest in a better education of the American youth, especially in poverty stricken/low income areas. Give them better options. Our global educational rank has been stagnant since 2000.

#15-18 - This all falls under the Govts incompetence of securing our borders. If they cared enough not to let drugs get into this country, they would've stopped it a loooooooong time ago.

Those are a few that ill mention. This list is sorta like a scapegoat like a lot of American propaganda - blaming everyone else for American hardships except the govt.

Ps - Just because my handle is "hallowpinyo"(jalapeño) does not mean I'm Mexican.

Interesting facts from The National Immigration Law Center.

Seems there's some "exceptions" ....

IMMIGRANT ELIGIBILITY RESTRICTIONS
Categories of Immigrants: “Qualified” and “Not Qualified”

The 1996 welfare law created two categories of immigrants for benefits eligibility purposes: “qualified” and “not qualified.” Contrary to what these names suggest, the law excluded most people in both groups from eligibility for many benefits, with a few exceptions. The qualified immigrant category includes:

Lawful permanent residents, or LPRs (persons with green cards).

Refugees, persons granted asylum or withholding of deportation/removal, and conditional entrants.

Persons granted parole by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for a period of at least one year.

Cuban and Haitian entrants.

Certain abused immigrants, their children, and/or their parents.

Certain victims of trafficking.

This article is written by Michael Snyder

He also wrote this:

I feel like I would be doing a disservice if I didn’t explain to you the most important thing that you could take away from this website. If I had not given my life to the Lord Jesus Christ, I would probably be dead today. He has taken the broken pieces of my life and has made them into a beautiful thing, and He can do the same thing for you. theeconomiccollapseblog.com...

Comments about Michael Snyder: I'm pretty sure it's the same guy

Michael T. Snyder is a fundamentalist Christian crank who has started numerous blogs as a testament to his raging insane belief that the world is about to end. He started with The Economic Collapse Blog in 2007, with constant articles stating how the world is going to hell every single day since the meltdown started in 2007. It seems as though Snyder blames the government for every ill in the world, because without it everything would be great. rationalwiki.org...

None of this changes the fact that we do indeed have an illegal immigration problem.

I think most countries people want to live in do. It is not just the US.

So what do you do? Toss them out in the desert to die?

Odd how many on ATS are quick to blame welfare paid to individuals as being responsible for a given country's economic ills. Stating it openly or quoting and linking to articles that blame economic decline on the ordinary working people. Stating it openly or linking to articles that make such claims clearly indicates their thinking. The ,linked article is a good exaample of such thinking.

It begs the question, do these people blame welfare for individuals for economic decline because they have been 'trained' to do by the media or is it because the man on the TV has never told them about corporate welfare and how much it costs the country each year

Thank you.

You have just confirmed TheAntediluvian's post.

All those on the list are either being processed or have resident status and therefore are not illegal.

This whole issue is compounded by the war on drugs and NAFTA. NAFTA drove all the jobs out of Mexico and other Central American countries leaving only illegal ones. The cartels took over, run the countries now and are slowly moving north. We really need to STOP having conversations about illegal immigration while not talking about the cartels and the war on drugs. Here some reading material.

How the Drug War Drives Child Migrants to the US Border

The cartels control the governments, judges, police forces, and even some prisons and some of the military through a combination of bribery, threats, and outright force.

As a consequence of this control drug gangs and cartels can operate in the open or they can operate deep within the jungle beyond the reach of the law. In turn, the drug cartels can act above the law and as a result they have created a culture of violence, building on the civil wars of previous decades.

The countries in the northern Central American region, Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador, have the highest murder rate of any region in the world. The region’s murder rate is 7.5 times the murder rate of the North American region.

Globally, the top murder rate in any given year since the 1990s has been Honduras or El Salvador. In 2012, nearly 1 out of every 1,000 citizens in Honduras was murdered. In addition to murder, there are high rates of other types of violence, crime, and intimidation. A very large percentage of the entire Salvadoran-born population has migrated, mostly to the United States.

In addition to violence, the war on drugs has been a disruptive force for the Central American economies. After reading about the region, is anyone likely to make travel plans to go there, or to consider opening a business there? Obviously, the war on drugs has been highly disruptive for job creation, commerce, and international investment outside the drug cartels themselves. Therefore it would be more correct to say that it is not so much the attraction of opportunities in the US, but the lack of and reduction in opportunities in Central America that are spurring emigration, and that this is directly linked to the war on drugs.

When you try to make sense of parents sending their children on such a dangerous undertaking, just remember it is just another despicable result of the war on drugs with few solutions.

Please read the whole article though. It is very informative and basically outlines what I've been saying for weeks if not months about this issue.
