picket lines were a THREAT of VIOLENCE to anyone that attempted to cross.

When strikers stopped beating up the picket line crossing scabs, then strikes lost ALL bargaining power.

ANYONE beating up people for crossing picket lines should be locked up or worse.
And any organization advocating such tactics should be shut down and disbanded.

He gets no breaks even if he works 10 hours.

Just chiming in to say that IF this is true, your cousin NEEDS to obtain evidence of being denied breaks during a 10 hour shift. Then he needs to find a pro bono lawyer. He has a slam dunk Federal Labor Law suit and will win a sizable settlement from Family Dollar.

You hit the nail on the head, unions gave us job security.
That is what made the middle class - the ability to know you would have a job and a retirement.
If you have a little extra money at the end of the month chances are unions brought you that too.
Many men and women died and suffered in extraordinary ways to make the employer-employee relationship one of mutual trust and respect. How often is that the case today:?

We've lost so much ground in every way since 9/11.
They did destroy America that day.
