Call me ignorant, cause I don't know anything about this issue. Every time I hear about G8 I hear many mad people. I have noticed that these G8 meetings gather many many protesters. But why???

Only until recently I was informed by another member here on ATS what G8 was. I was told that G8 was the 8 richest countries meeting to discuss, 'business'.

I guess the big uproar is all about the money. Yet I have to wonder, what the real uproar is about. Why is it that people protest these meetings???

Is it for the same reasons that the Bilderberger meetings are protested???

Do they have the same shady and secretive tactics of the Bilderbergs???

Or are the G8 meetings more legit, but even more controversal???

I don't understand why people object to these meetings, can someone please explain this to me???

G8 sets economic and trading policies for the world. They have political clout and they speak for their respective governments. What they say and do is what happens (as you can track from the newspapers.)

Bilderberg is just a think tank with no policy setting ability. Many of their suggestions are never implemented (the Canadian water situation, for instance.)

G8 is when the 8 most powerful countries (economically)
America, Japan, Britain , Germany, France, Russia, China and Italy (if i recall correctly) gather to discuss the world situation and the implications it has on economics.
Nothing to worry about

It used to be G7, then G7 plus Russia and then G8. Not that Russia ranks among the top 8 industrialised countries in the world.

What I want to know is why so many people are in a uproar about G8. Can anyone tell me why this group is hated so much by the protesters that it brings???

Are these protesters farmers???

Are they youth???

Or are they everyone.

And why is it these people that protest them???

I understand why people would protest things like the WHO and the WTO, but why G8.

Can anyone else help me with that???

The G8 represents money.
Where-ever you have a gathering of money, you're going to have a group of people that oppose it.

Most of the G8 protestors don't come from walks of professional life. They're hardcore protestors who have taken part in many demonstrations before. They're the same guys who demonstrate when any other issue raises it's head. Race issues, animal rights issues, abortion issues, financial issues - your average G8 protestor has already marched for a couple of these causes. Quite often they turn ugly.

Personally, I don't have a lot of time for these guys. They cause complications for all of us and actually cost us the very money that they're whining about in policing them.

If they could demonstrate peacefully then great. That's their right. But some of these guys don't even understand for themselves what the G8 is. They're protesting against the system for the sake of it.

As for the G8 itself? It's a necessary meeting. You've simply got to get all the money together to communicate with itself now and again. If it all starts pushing in different directions the consequences could be dire.

That is what I figured you would say. I agree. I have never heard anyone give me a viable exuse for opposing these meetings by the so-called globalists pigs. I see no reason to be so objective to this venture. Although I think that if it had any real sense of concern for economic policy than G8 would be G16. 8 richest, 8 poorest.

Maybe that would shut them up. Well, probably not.

There will always be a conspiracy.

It is part of the conspiracy.

You See???

Protesters converge because they are out there protesting various issues that get ignored by industrialized nations. Theres people from everything from greenpeace to amnesty with thier various issues.

Supoosedly, its economics that get discussed. Its aonly the nations with money, power, or both that go. What really goes on, who knows? It remoinds me of the WTO.
