Magnitude 7.5 in Mexico (Breaking)

Sorry, but if you can't see the increase in both quantity, variety and intensity of these earthquakes you are kidding yourself. I hope everyone is safe!

A powerful earthquake shook central and southern Mexico on Friday. The U.S. Geological Survey calculated its magnitude at 7.5 and said it was centered near the Pacific resort of Acapulco, where many Mexicans are vacationing for the Easter holiday.

An earthquake was a part of the crucifixion, and probably many people in the affected area will remember or comment upon that. Hopefully this was the major quake, did it have a series of foreshocks?

Good Friday witnessed an earthquake in Alaska in 1964, registering 9.2.

Today is my grand baby's 8th birthday. She was born on the 100th anniversary of the 1906 San Fransisco earthquake, which registered 7.7.

Mexico comes in with a 7.5 earthquake on Good Friday, making me ponder the synchronicity of numbers a bit more. Hmm.....maybe I should check out the threads on that a bit more.....


Perhaps my grandchild was born to 'Shake the world up?

I blame my connection, it took me 10 mins to connect to the new thread, stupid african internet.

I got a call from my wife in Guadalajara, she told me the effects there in Jalisco was very heavy. Walls shaking, door frames cracking, everyone woken up, etc.

Said the water in the pool was sloshing around and was still vibrating when she called me. So if it was felt that hard in Jalisco then it would have been really hard closer to the zone. Bearing in mind it take 1 hour to fly from GDL to Mexico City, and this is even further away,

Amount of energy is astonishing.

Although OP, your title is misleading.

The quake was not in Acapulco and Mexico City, That's like Saying there was a quake in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, when it was really in San Diego.

You want the glory of posting first? Alright, you heard it first. Just bear in mind this is not a competition, I had no idea we were on a race. As far as misleading titles go, I guess you could be really literal about it or read the article and see why I mentioned both cities. But I'll change it so you don't get a stroke.

My wife, son, and myself were having a nice sleep when we were woken up by this fairly strong quake. It lasted a good minute or more. We haven't had one here in Mexico city for awhile, I guess with all the activity lately we were due.I just hope there is not something more big in store for us. Thank you all for your concern. There was one warning, but its all good. Not quite strong enough, and it seems to have happened on land.
