Okay, I've seen these incredibly long-running threads like "mood music" and "funny pics" and so forth....

thought I'd bring up a new one, see how it goes.

You know when you get a song stuck in your head for some reason....just a bit of a song, you know...
and you're not sure why it's intruding on your thoughts? It's called an earworm.

ear·worm
ˈi(ə)rˌwərm/
noun
1.
short for corn earworm.
2.
informal
a catchy song or tune that runs continually through a person's mind.

I know I have a different one nearly every day. Sometimes they're results of dreams, I guess - but mostly just random.

Yesterday it was part of Quizas by Enrique Iglesias.
The day before it was something else that I have since forgotten.
Today it was the "Halleluya" song from Shrek (the first one).
Sometimes it's an advert jingle, even ones from years ago!! Or part of a symphony I know (DutdutdutDAAAAAA)

So, I wondered if any of you wake up with a tune stuck in your head, and if so - what is it today?

Share, if you like!
If no one wants to, I guess I'll just have a lonely thread where I log my own.

What is it with music? I think it's the humanest part of us. I have a soundtrack running in my head at all times...
do you?

Every day! Today's song is Jethro Tull's Thick as a Brick, which is funny, because I haven't listened to any Tull in 20-30 years...

All morning I have been humming Rush's "Freewill"

You can choose a ready guide in some celestial voice.
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.
You can choose from phantom fears and kindness that can kill;
I will choose a path that's clear-
I will choose Free Will.

Earworm, ew!

Kill Bill I and II are on this afternoon ... so that's probably why. Anticipation.

I would love a song in my head. Instead I've got the musical styling of the band known as Tinnitus whose piercing ringing can prevent earworm infestations of even the most noxious and prolific sort.

Cue "Yellow Submarine":

Nope...not working.

Wow guys! I got distracted by spouse arrival...
this thing seems to be taking off!! Amazing!

It's been running through my head to start this thread every time I hear an earworm running through my head.
This is my remedy, I guess!!

We can trade earworms and not have to suffer all day!
Yay!

whew

(@ Serdgiam: then just tell us what you kicked out. lol)

Oh noez! That's a bummer. Well, can you feel the rhythm, though? Even if you don't 'hear' the tune?
I'm sorry. That must suck.

Sorry to hear that, I know ringing can be bad in small doses but in perpetuity it must be awful.

I was wondering if some variant of a cochlear implant might provide some relief. Could one be made to cancel out a known frequency?

The song "Let It Go" from Frozen. I'm not afraid to admit I enjoyed the movie and loved the song, but when it's playing in your head for a whole week...

Eh, I knew it was coming so was mentally prepared. Regular use of advil starts up the din every time. Usually, I've got music going all the time in my head. I am my own stereo, lol. It sucks but looking at that ever present bright side, I really am immune from getting noxious and annoying songs stuck in my head. Like Yellow Submarine, Tie a Yellow Ribbon, Puff the Magic Dragon and more. They got nothin on my ringing, lol.
