Speaking of shelters, here is a shelter me and my buddy made for a night out.
The first pic shows the back of the shelter.

files.abovetopsecret.com/files/img/jh53345b9d.jpg

This pic shows the front.

files.abovetopsecret.com/files/img/za53345bc3.jpg

I hope adding the pics work.
Thats a shelter worth talking about.
We built it on a bunch of big boulders so we could stand up in it,its bigger than it looks from the outside.
It rained most of the night and we stayed dry.

Good luck with the show.

I loved the info regarding Teepees. I always wondered
if you could build a fire in there or in any shelter.

I missed that part of the show because I had to pick up my son from rugby practice, but I wish I would have heard it.

I went to HS on an indian reservation and there were a few in the community that still practiced and taught the art of building tepees. They were very sturdy, weather resistant, and fairly simple to build once you learned the basics. Some of them were enormous!

As far as fires inside the structure, it was my understanding that the fires would only be as large as absolutely necessary....but it would heat the entire thing easily and vented out of the top properly as long as you let air flow in from the bottom.

I'm sure Garth and friends can correct any bad info I just posted.

What about in ground smokeless fire pits? (I know, they are never actually smokeless)

Or did I miss that one?

I have a 18ft. 550 cord whip. It uses a .50 cal cleaning rod as the stiffener for the handle. It's over twenty years old and still works fine. Though I tend to flog myself whenever I break it out after a long absence. LOL

Yes they mentioned the same as you & how big some of them were, 30 - 40 ft.
I was amazed! That's awesome you went to school on a reservation, what an
education in it's own way...one you can actually use.
I was in chat but meds kicked in so will have to listen to the rest.
Have a great evening!

I thought about making dog Collars & Leashes using
para cord. That would be pretty long pieces.
This was another great show & glad Garth is back to
his normal self. I 'm still listening but meds may keep
me from staying awake, if I drop out I hope to catch up!

Cheers
Ektar

Fire segment was awesome!

Stuffed Bell Pepper recipe because Garth asked for it.

Cook Time: 1 hour, 25 minutes

Total Time: 1 hour, 25 minutes

Ingredients:

6 green bell peppers
1 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped celery
1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 teaspoon dried leaf oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried leaf basil
2 teaspoons salt, divided
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper, divided
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef or chuck
1 1/2 cups cooked long-grain rice
shredded mild Cheddar cheese, about 1/2 to 3/4 cup, optional

Preparation:

Directions for stuffed peppers with ground beef and rice
Cut tops off peppers; remove seeds and membranes. Chop edible part of tops and set aside. Rinse peppers under cold water. Place peppers in a large pot; cover with salted water. Bring to a boil; reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 5 minutes. Drain peppers and set aside.
Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat until hot. Sauté chopped green pepper (from tops), chopped onion, and chopped celery for about 5 minutes, or until vegetables are tender. Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, crushed garlic, oregano, basil, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of pepper. Simmer for about 10 minutes.

In a large mixing bowl, combine egg with remaining 1 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Gently stir to blend; add ground beef, cooked rice, and 1 cup of the tomato mixture. Mix well. Stuff peppers with meat mixture and place in a 3-quart baking dish. Pour remaining tomato mixture over the stuffed peppers. Bake at 350° for 55 to 65 minutes. If desired, top stuffed peppers with a little shredded Cheddar cheese just before peppers are done; bake until cheese is melted.
Recipe for stuffed peppers serves 6.

Nice! But I have to say I hate you now. I only cook for one, so now I'm going to have to do math.
I hate math!

But I do see myself having this for a meal this weekend. It's been awhile since I've had stuffed peppers.

Maybe I should make two...can they be reheated? (And it makes the math easier
)

Is Dave OK? I just heard that there were eight tornadoes, and he did have to leave early.

My thoughts and prayers go out to any one affected by this.

Of course, I must be mentally challenged since I chase tornadoes when the opportunity arises.
