No and no.

And on a related note, ALL a welcomed at Mass. Any time! Catholic or not. There are no bouncers at the door! And truthfully, if neither you nor your spouse were Catholic at the time of marriage, and say both of you want to convert, your marriage would automatically be presumed to be valid.

I agree! Remember though that calling it Roman Catholic was originally intended to be a derogatory term. One should simply say Catholic.

But if you must, "Roman" can also refer to the Latin Rite of the Church. There are several Rites within the Church, all in Communion with the Holy See.

There are now, and have always been, good priests! Like any other large scale organization, there may be some internal conflicts and some leadership that have attempted to detract the intended message. But like you, I do think that Pope Francis is indeed "one of the good ones!"
