US miliatry preparing for deployments and now on hightened state of alert.

I just know this due to conversations with military people both retired and active. Much of US training is on stand down so as to prepare Aircraft, Tanks, Ships for deployment to war. Nuclear weapons being dusted off and tested for readiness. US preparing for worst if not a an actual response.

Writing yesterday in Foreign Policy Admiral James Stavridis (Ret) called for NATO to immediately increase” all intelligence-gathering functions through satellite, Predator unmanned vehicles, and especially cyber” and to sail “NATO maritime forces into the Black Sea and setting up contingency plans for their use.” This is full-blown war talk – with Russia. Admiral Stavridis was Supreme Allied Commander at NATO from 2009 to 2013. He is currently dean of the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.

While I believe this is probably true, with no real sources, it's not really going to fly with most of the people on here. I do believe you, though. Or, at least, I would hope our military is smart enough to be doing this, even if Obama hadn't ordered it to be done.

You should change your title to, "US preparing for the POSSIBILITY of deployments..."

Big deal, Russia deployed their ships to Syria when we (US) was trying to start something with Syria...this is what the big dogs do...sabre rattling my friend...we only pounce on the little countries who provide some economic means for us longterm

To be honest with you that is pretty normal anytime there are heightened tensions anywhere in the world. We went on yellow alert one night because the then leader of the Soviet Union went to the Black Sea which was considered uncharacteristic of him due to the time frame. Russia has always gotten our military leaders stirred up due to their nuclear capabilities/// At least I hope that is all there is to it !

I remember that video from last year doing the rounds on the October FEMA alert thing and it mentioned how there were lots of russian troops in the US i wonder if with all this conflict they would be removed from the US ? if they were even there to begin with it seems that video was a hoax but there was like 15,000 of them supposedly on US soil.

Anyway i really hope things settle down and theres no need to deploy anyone.

How do you remove troops that were never in the USA?

I am a source myself. I was just watching some US Aircraft being sealed up for quick deployments while driving past one of US AF flight lines. My other sources are just friends involved. It will be on news soon enough. I would not doubt some B-2 deployments to get closer in theater once they get the nukes loaded and armed.

I was part of it for 20 years so know what I am seeing and not seeing, that and just chatting with others who are still part of the situation.

Make no mistake if US and NATO have any inclination to get involved, then the Nukes are part of the equation if for no other reason than being prepared for counter attacks if Russia were to use them.

We'll just thought I'd throw some info out here.... The U.S Carrier Attack group is just about to enter the Black Sea headed towards Crimea.. There's a 17 ship attack group with 3 Nuclear Subs accompanying the USS George HW Bush Super Carrier.. I'd post a link but T&C won't allow it..
Google it though and it'll come up... That much firepower headed towards Ukraine might rattle some nerves, let's hope cooler heads prevail

Your correct but civilians are often not aware of what happens in these situations. I can say though that some assets that have been stowed for a good long while are being awakened that are not part of the regular drum ups to war like versus Terrorists. what's going on now is more akin to what a heighten alert would have been 27-30 years ago VS Soviet Union.

We may not be playing chess but we are setting up the board to play with our Army men.

True ...everyone, I mean everyone is the enemy of the us government, even its own citizens, hell even its own military leaders that won't fire on citizens. So yeah if you disagree then you are the enemy of the state .

I agree personally that we get involved in to many wars but in this case it is RUSSIA not the USA being aggressive. If nothing else Mr. Putin has single handedly ensure the US congress wont be cutting the US Military budgets anytime soon.

Just out of curiosity.
Could the actual firing of generals be not due to misbehavior.
But rather not following through with nuclear preparedness? They did after all have the scoop of what was coming.

On the other side. Here in this area. Non of my friends or family that are serving. Claim that no request for readiness has been made. They're still operating on the be ready always attitude.
