Saipan, the largest of 15 islands that constitute the Northern Mariana islands is a nippy four hour flight from China and has become a popular destination for “birth tourism” because the group of islands are US commonwealth territories and so babies born there gain US citizenship and you can get a 45 day visa on arrival.

In fact, a whole sector of tourism specialization is springing up around the citizenship scheme.

Travel agencies in China have caught onto the trend and now offer travel packages catering purely to these expectant mothers. For $27,000 you can fly from China to Saipan, give birth and return home with your beautiful American baby.

CHINESE ANCHOR BABIES BORN IN U.S. SKYROCKETS DUE TO "BIRTH TOURISM"

Of course, when the "babies" reach age 21, they can then petition the US to allow their parents to enter and remain permanently in the US. Who knows whether in 21 years they will want to do so?

Well ... I think these little US citizens need protection. How, pray tell, can we as a country allow some foreigner to just cart our people off to be raised in China? We need to put a stop to this!!

America was once a great place, but now?
I wonder why anyone would want to go there. From what I read on ats it seems there's every chance of being taken out by crazed loe's, the food is mostly gmo, kids are shot full of nasty vaccines, health care is extortionate...etc etc.

I like Americans, but I dont like whats happening to America!

Born into the duty to fund America's terror..

truly an international rite of passage!

How did US acquire those areas, anyhoo?

US took it from Spain in 1898, and then took it again from Japan in WW2.

But have you got your eyes open?
I think most people would admit there's many countries now preferable to the US.

A change in tactics as chinese women would marry americans to get citizenship then once they have it take their husband for everything he has . Immigration caught on and made it tougher for them to get spouse visas .
To them america is the golden rice bowl and theyd do anything to get there.
Ironic is at present there is more freedom and opportunity in china than america these days .

Have you ever actually lived here or are you just going by what many write in these forums?

I've read a lot of stuff too about other countries I've never been to but I wont judge them until I've actually visited there or talked to the person on their streets.

That is bad i wonder if the US will change laws down the line so in 21years they cant get mum & dad over aswell if petitioned ? If that is even possible, the fine would backfire then.

The US might sound bad but i would still choose there over China but thats more a culture thing im from Australia so would relate better to Americans and adapt the lifestyle alot better.. i think GMO foods are a problem in alot of countries especially here in Aus not just there, same as nasty vaccines .. I can still see why it would appeal to the Chinese anyway.

I thought the US put a stop to anchor babies? In that the kid would only gain US citizenship if one or both of the parents are citizens at the time of birth

Okay, I can't help but ask.........

Hate to say it but VoidHawk is right. I am currently back in the US but have spent many years living in two different EU countries as well as Asia. There are lots of places preferable to the US now and if I had the money I'd move tomorrow.

I despair for the US.

ETA - Back on topic, these babies after 21 more years may end up wondering why the mothers chose to their a child on US soil in the first place. Especially if things keep going as they are now.

Nope, going with Slayer on this one. I've been to Japan, Korea, Australia an nothing compares to my Beloved Texas State.
Its true, a lot of people read paranoid post on how bad america is, GMO, rampant shootings an overall nasty place. Afraid none of its true. Yes stuff happens and things go down, but hey, that's life, I know, I lived the streets an worked my way up, now I'm military.
So really, I guess its a matter of opinion, but I have had an AWESOME life in the States an a lot of other people will agree AND its going to stay that way, too many fear mongers getting into you peoples heads.

Oh china and their ways...Hmmm, surprised mexico didn't think of a similar idea....or maybe....

Very true, I wish I had more hope actually, despair sucks.

Any future addresses will be updated, not be behind any firewall that blocks ATS (heaven forbid) and also will be on a nice hot, sandy beach that has quick access to numerous Margaritas. Have to keep up our standards right?

And at some point in the next 21 years the USA re-introduces conscription. How could the CIA let all those potential assets go to waste?.
