Snowflakes, snowstorms, rain, cold and sleet
Prosperous at best while standing at a winter’s feet
Sunshine, which I miss since it’s on standby at the door
Leaving all of us, asking, hoping and wishing for more...
Indoors, outdoors, colors fading, all of the same
Santa, Frosty, Jack, Rudolph, who is to blame?
For those dreadful and awful Arctic cold brisk snaps
And all of that snow and ice that cover our maps...
Oh Winter, how I wish I could have a heart to dance
Without the mitts, the coats, the scarves and the hats
And instead of a bonfire that I wish I could cherish and love
This scary Snowman looking down at me, it seems from above...
What I would give to enjoy one more summer’s night
Just laying there in the grass, under the stars far and bright
Instead of here in the house, recreating this false warmth
And hoping to see, soon enough, those hot summer months...
A Winter’s Dance, clearly, isn’t for everyone.
