that's too bad, but going to bump this: next week is themed "Are We Alone" week on the Science Channel, with a number of Shows, including " Close Encounters". They are also running a lot of shows on/about ufo's, and also I don't know if they are a new installment, or a rerun, but showing "NASA'S Unexplained Files"...I know I will be watching.

I can verify, after checking the Science Channel, that there will a NEW edition of "Nasa's Unexplained Files" on next week during their week of shows with the theme: " Are we Alone." I look forward to this.

It's not just a NEW show, it's a series.

Here are some snippets:

www.sciencechannel.com...

The 'dish' appeared in a 1979 NASA-provided compilation of unusual images, and my 'scene list' generated for reference, I accepted the explanation offered by the photo tech. Carelessly, as it turned out.

My 1981-era 'scene list':

www.jamesoberg.com...

09:23 to 09:41 The end of a successful lunar expedition, as the bizarre
lunar module spacecraft returns to the command module.
38-39/ Watch the object in the upper left. It is not a nearby UFO,
09:41 to 10:03 but is a quarter million miles away: the Earth. On one flight,
the moon's reflection off the Indian Ocean was reported as a
strange light "between us and the Earth".
[The identification of this light as ‘Earth’ by the NASA photo technician
Piccard turns out to have been erroneous. It was actually the dish of a
Mast-mounted light pole for illumination during a planned spacewalk]

I recorded the new installment of NASA'S Unexplained Files from last night. Anyone who did watch it? Comments? I will weigh in later after I watch it.

that I do not know for sure. The channel you want is Science Channel, I don't know if that is also in the Discovery Channel family or not.

The series is NOT aimed at mature, intelligent people.

My interest is peaked. When is it on? I'm thinking we could make a drinking game out of it. I just hope its not on at the same time as Big Ang.

I think Science Channel is rerunning the two installments sometime tonight. I missed them the other night, and they were not available on my On Demand just yet.

Great idea. I would say take a shot every time the say the word "may" or "could" but you will likely be drunk before the first commercial airs.

I watched both episodes tonight and I wasn't very impressed. The episodes I watched covered the Delphos, Falcon Lake, Cash/Landrum and Illinois triangle UFO cases. First off, the animations for the recreations bothered me. They weren't really that great, especially the Illinois triangle. The "UFOs over Illinois" show did a fantastic job re-creating the object seen by the various witnesses.

Another thing that bugged me was recreating evidence instead of showing the evidence that actually exists. For example, when the show as discussing the Delphos case, they mentioned the photo of the glowing ring left by the craft, but opted to keep showing a recreation of the circle instead of showing the actual photograph (to be fair, they did show it..for a few seconds..and cropped). During the part about the Illinois triangles, instead of playing the actual police recordings, they opted to have actors recreate the audio to make it sound more dramatic, I guess.

When they were presenting the Cash/Landrum case, it was claimed that when the diamond craft first appeared over the road, it was shooting blue lightning bolts out of the bottom which disabled the car's engine and that's why they stopped in the middle of the road. I've never heard any of this before. Also, I don't believe they made any mention of alleged melted blacktop, the attempt to purchase the car by the government nor Betty's persistent health problems and eventual death from cancer.

I think the premise of revisiting the most famous UFO encounter cases is a nice idea, but as usual it seems that details are being added to the stories to make them more dramatic.

after having watched both programs, while I did like them, its seriously hard to do justice to some of the more compelling cases of ufo contact on a show that devotes maybe 8 minutes to them. The shows were to short. These are very complex, fascinating cases of closeup contact, that still stand in my mind today. Especially the Cash/Landrum encounter. I cannot recall to many cases of ufo experience with that particular type of ufo that seemed to be venting plasma, or electricity or both or something else. I will admit, I had not heard of the miner's contact case in Manitoba, Canada I think it was. But it too was profoundly interesting.

Just check the Science Channels show schedule for tonight, and tonight is another new installment of Nasa's Unexplained Files. I understand one subject is that Nasa's Viking lander may have found life on Mars, so why do we not know about this? There will be other subjects touched on too.

First off, the animations for the recreations bothered me.

Bad animations always bug the hell out of me. For most of the famous UFO sightings, there are good witness reports and often drawings or even some blurry photos. The animators should take the time and do a little bit of research to make sure their animations conform to the descriptions of the witnesses. If something is egg-shaped (like the Soccorro landed craft), then don't make it into a saucer with jet engines. Don't add mechanical-looking textures like something out of a Hollywood movie. Don't add a lot of incorrect things just to jazz it up, like flashes of light or blurry zooms out into space. If there are multiple witnesses and they describe different things (happens frequently), show different things. Don't try to homogenize the sightings so they all look like the same thing. Let the sighting stand on its own.

I guess they're not paid enough or have enough real interest to care.

We know. The key word is "may." Some of the chemical tests came back with positive results, but then it was determined that those positive results could have been due to some non-living natural processes. Subsequent tests by pretty much all the other Mars landers have come up negative. So was there only life in this one spot? Unlikely. If we've discovered anything about life over the past several decades, if you have a little, it will spread everywhere.

The show's not bad. Reminded me a bit of the old Project U.F.O. series from the late 70's. I liked that it was devoid of the faux investigation team BS. Speaking of that, I Accidentally watched another episode of Uncovering Aliens [well, a few minutes of it anyway] and it gave me something to compare it to. Gawd that's an awful show. I can't stand listening to any of those knuckleheads, and yes, they are all knuckleheads. Mike Bara is an "Aerospace engineer"? According to who, Richard Hoagland? Steven Jones is like Bill Birnes with an obnoxious accent and Derrel Simms needs to have his Geiger counter and 90's Aussie cowboy nerd outfit taken away from him. Maureen Elsberry is a babe. :-)

Why did this thread get moved? It's a show about actual UFO cases... it's not like we're discussing I Love Lucy.

I used to watch I love Lucy. Remember that show ultraman? That was cool.

weird. There is a ton of threads on different alien shows. Even Sci fi ones?
