It's definitely a different culture today. I feel something changed in the 80's - a compliance maybe. Not sure but we won't see what someone said their grandpa had seen - patriotism - people involved with what was going on - the 60's...it's just changed too much. Materialism and individualism (me me me) is prevalent.

I think if Obama does anything outside of the law he will get called on it. The courts will run it through and throw it back at him if illegal. If caught being bribed - they will get thrown out as well.

Yes, that is true, I know exactly what it is to be in the middle class in this nation, we get screwed the most, but hey Obama is promising to by pass congress in order to give people middle class status, I wonder how he is going to accomplish that.

I guess he means giving amnesty to millions of immigrants and call them "middle class".

Yes I been sarcastic, sorry about that.

1969...JFK tried to get out of the FED took a bullet instead.

Though this is just my opinion of the start of the problem.

I think your right. I always felt the end of that era was associated with Manson but your point resonates. I'm sure there is a good book waiting for me to find it on this subject. I would have been too young to feel a change then. The 70's seemed like a quiet decade - recovering from the 60's. Maybe that's why I felt something in the 80's (can't pin point it though).

Kennedy's death - changed far more than I'm aware of. Higher security for elected officials for sure - likely has had an impact on every presidents to follow to not screw around with the secret rich. Now they just work for them (that was mean - even though many do).

Not to mention let the FED get a stranglehold on our economy by controlling the flow of money, or inflation of you will by printing billions of this fiat currency when ever they see fit.

There are Supreme Court cases now being heard that will put Obama in check by the spring & if the Republicans take the Senate which is possible. He is a lame duck and it's over. So it's not all doom and gloom.

Obama’s use of executive power faces reckoning at Supreme Cou

Obama will probably issue an executive order to blend the federal reserve with the executive branch - that would be an interesting day. While he's at it - overriding the constitution - might as well do this and give every American a free home along with a hefty raise for himself. Why not throw in a bomb for Assad's head. Doesn't matter - our economy is a mess and if China crashes I fear we aren't far behind because I believe this will lead to war. In the not too distant future I see a world government controlling it all since money has been managed so badly across the board.

I don't understand Obama's reasoning on more immigration and raising the middle class up - how do these two fit together? How can you give to the poor and also give to the middle class who are helping to pay for that? Is he proposing he and his colleagues pay a bigger tax to make this happen? It's all too surreal. This Country has changed in too many ways.

Ok so this Supreme Court hearing was a couple of weeks ago and he is spouting off that he plans to issue executive orders. Have they decided in his favor? Are they still deliberating? I can't find an update on this.

No democracy in new Honduras congress

This makes a really good read and example of why things can not
be allowed to further devolve in relation to checks and balances
in the system. Things do need to be fixed but the problems are
that everyone up there thinks it supposed to be THEIR way and
not the way the citizens want it. The sick sad reality is this could
be our future if we look the other way on these abuses of power.

Democrat, Republican, third party, i don't care who
they are they need to grow the heck up and do their jobs, stop
the insanity that is partisan politics before we end up like so
many other failed faux democracies.

What pass laws without congress.

That will go over great as many people will ignore the laws and the courts will likely rule against him.

Bypassing congress will also help the GOP in the next elections.

Once the GOP has the house and Senate they will pass a lot of laws obama will not sign into law but the people will like.

Then we will see the outcome.

Then you have no idea what constitutes as a Federal system nor that which is comprised of our Republic. You are advocating for tyrannical rule (harsh word I know, but that is what it is when all "law" is derived from a single point)...

Hail to the King!

Yet another nail in the coffin of our checks and balances.

When the leader is doing things that are illegal it should, "GOOD, we stopped him, he's about to commit a crime and be arrested!" Not, there goes the country. STOP HIM!

So, don't understand these posts.

I think we're passed the point of needing more nails, we've got to hole dug and dirt is being thrown on top.

I think "bypass Congress where necessary" part is actually 'where it can be got away with'.

Isn't this statement..er..illegal?

I'm not American, but i thought without Congressional approval, basically the voice of the people, you don't actually have a representative republic any more, and a 'regime' instead.

And the Progressives and 0bama backers rejoice and will say, "Well, we need something to be done".

This is Tyranny by any other name.

This is a dangerous precedent. It is just a step away from just plain striking down the constitution and declaring Obama King. This is just plain wrong on so many levels to just bypass congress on a whim and do whatever he wants. Obama is just a spoiled petulant child who has to have things his way or no way.

This is too rich considering this is going to be the 'Year of action'.

BY EO.

Listen to this crap:

"We've got this Constitution, we've got this whole thing about separation of powers," Obama continued. "So there is no shortcut to politics, and there's no shortcut to democracy."

www.csmonitor.com...

Let's face it Obama doesn't believe in a democracy.

Because if he does why is trying to bypass congress to push his agenda further?

Would it not be an impeachable offense if he bypasses congress? His bypassing the system built to keep one from amassing too much power. What are the limits on his bypassing abilities?

I think he is specifically speaking of raising the debt ceiling, which, in all reality, requires no Congressional approval. If Congress were unable or unwilling to raise the ceiling, the President can act outside of Congress to make it happen.
