I have a different hypothesis. Mother asked/hired somebody to dress up like her conception of Jesus to scare some sense into a 5 year old terror.

sounds to me like you were being scolded by Our Lord for your rebellious heart.

not your rebellious physical conflict with everyone
around you on a mental, emotional and sometimes physical level.

but reprimanded for your spiritual and volitional rebellion and defiance.

and it appears that you have failed to heed the reprimand even to today.

goosebumps are an indication of a spiritual event either occurring or trying to occur.
