In case of an apocalyptic scenario, the Cult of The Bunny would arise and lead the world into a mad-max universe.

The men will have to wear chaps with no behind and sport mo-hawks.
The women will have to have sexy outfits and kill people with supernatural speed like that gal from the Underworld series.

There will be no time for past leisure's like the internet (except between the hours of noon till 5) because we'll all be hunting and gathering and fighting and making homes from rocks and maybe lumber. And dry-wall.

At least, that's how I see it going down.

nobody lives in utopia, we just all know how to get the supplies we need in these here parts.. Water is probably by far the easiest, barring some unforeseen situation where they just dumped the Nuclear Waste over on the other side of the rise the neighborhood is very much provided for by some nice underground aquifers.. Animals, plentiful around here all times of the year, gardening is good int he summer, doable with some work in the fall and spring, and a lot of us know which plants to grow to use as medicines and for barter if needed..

54 this year and I can still shoot, So if your community needs a mature vet for security just look for....THAT icon and I will be happy to help,no thug policy when working.

If the # hits the fan so be it. There are only so many things you can do to prepare, but in reality if people don't stick together in some form of community your dead. People have to work together to survive. If the power goes out for a prolonged period we will have chernobyl events all over the states that will kill us anyway a nuclear reactor will go south fast without power and containment, then it will poison the groundwater, the air ect ect and then we will all die anyway. So regardless no amount of prepping will help. Don't fear death, that's it. The fear of death is the problem, we just go somewhere else. Don't worry about stuff you cant control. Enjoy your life, the media, the government and the end of times scenarios should be ignored. People have been thinking this way for centuries, and were still here. When we kill each other off the ants will take over the planet. Zip de doo dah!

Out of that struggle you see the strengths that came from it. I like that attitude. I grew up poor. We were homelss more than once, so as a child I became familiar with hunger and going without other basic needs. I know it doesn't take much to stay alive. I still have a hard time building a fire though (without lighter fluid and a box of matches). I suppose I just need to set my mind to it and try harder.

I assumed by the "old ATS" you meant missing members or different attitudes. Some of my facebook friends have faded away because they can no longer afford the bill.

Ba! Today's young adults are stupid. They know how to work a smartphone and that's about it. I think they would be the first to go because they don't know how to do anything. Gangs would only last so long, eventually most of the gangs would self destruct from internal power struggles or from wars with other groups. the only people who will survive are those who are smart and get organized and learn to live with others in difficult times.

If we're talking about some sort of economic collapse type thing then a good modern example to learn from is the Argentina collapse back in 2001 (plenty of books/blogs out there from those who went through it) not that I believe that will happen to the entire US at once, but something similar could impact regions. However, if we are talking about world-wide or even Continental collapse I believe the chance is too remote to worry about. IMHO, foget the doom porn and concentrate on what's most realistic for your area.

That is assuming these woman, older people and children don't have guns to blow your head off. I am older and wouldn't hesitate to use my gun to defend what's mine. You have already set yourself up for failure by underestimating people.

No food in the stores means millions of people without of food, you're all so

1) Not one response to you had been ignorant, in fact people on this site do have a pretty good idea of how to survive a situation like this, yo uare the ignorant one if you think that the attitude you carry won't get you killed (hint, it would and it will)

2) NO government does not equal NO farmers delivering food, just a change in how it is acquired and delivered.

3) Millions of people HAVE gone without food and water and shelter in this country and they do not go "Ape****" yeah tehre will probably be some, but they will be culled off pretty quickly due to the 10 or so reasons already put in place.

4) Everyone has a gun in the United States, is precisely the reason you WON'T see roving gangs of people shooting everyone in sight. (and this everyone has a gun this is a misnomer it's not quite everyone......

5) Other countries can do however they please, i don't really care about them if I'm focused on my own survival at home, nor would you be, moot point.

6) you have ignored the biggest part of the many comments so I'll paraphrase:
Women, esp in the United States and the Western World are EQUAL to men, we do many of the same jobs, have led nations, have invented, have innovated, and are capable of rational and logical thinking under pressure. We could as well as you, protect our own, and probably with much less effort than you are putting forward.


The problem is that you aren't understanding that the United States is made up of many regions all of which have different values and morals, and each with their own flair. My area, New England is well known for the fact that while the people may not be too trusting of outsiders, in crisis we do not riot or loot, we band together through adversity. You would in very short order see a set of the populations of 5 states working together in a common cooperative to survive, anyone not down with that would be quickly removed, we've done it now two times in recent history, and will do it again if needed. That's not ignorance talking, that's simple fact. People, when faced with adversity act how they are taught to act.. You are obviously the product of violence and only think in terms of violence (again that will be your undoing). I can be violent if I have to be, I PREFER not to be if necessary, doesn't always work that way but...

Go back and read some of the comments offered to you, and really read them, you'll find that not one of us is actually being ignorant, but realist. Strength in the end will not win the day alone, I will reiterate the best fight, is the one avoided.

Whoa there! Show me the comment, now, that says anything about a percent ratio of men/women surviving on this thread! No one has even mentioned that. You're making stuff up in your head now.

No-one is claiming that 'women are better than men'. It's not that type of thread, or it wasn't. Good Lord, give me strength. All that being pointed out is that there are women out there who would/will have as much chance as a man, and are not the total useless females you seem to have encountered in life.
