when the second photo appears, it looks to me like the lander and rover have shadows..
yet, in both photos the shadows don't change on anything else.

sure someones gunna throw a fish in my face at something obvious missing! :/

Maybe the "before and after" images were both taken during the same phases of the moon (i.e., both could have been taken at the same amount of days into a lunar cycle).

Both photos were taken around the same time of the lunar day (although several years apart), so the shadows are very similar. However, look closely at the left side of the image; the shadow in the large crater is a bit longer.

yeah, i dunno.
It looks identical apart from the really obvious blacked out parts at top and bottom.
something about it makes me question it.
