Bomb scare shuts down Sydney CBD street

Just thought I'd post this here as it didn't come up in a search.

Some bloke appears to have claimed to have a car bomb outside NSW Parliament House.

The man, who claimed to have a bomb, had been sitting in the car since about 11am, negotiating with officers and handing pieces of paper out the window. NSW Parliament House and the street outside was forced into lockdown with both Premier Barry O'Farrell and Treasurer Mike Baird stuck inside the building, along with parliament staff.

Apparently he wanted to speak to the Premier directly and after a 3 hour standoff, the cops have pulled him from the car.

It appears his bomb was "petrol".

Yeah watched the whole thing live. Was never claimed to be a bomb though. He was threatening self harm with a flamable liquid. Now the mystery is what did he wan't with the particular mp?
