Interesting find... Also keep in mind that some bodies of water that are supposed to be "too cold" for some invasive species have things like power plants or industrial plants adjacent. Guess where that waste heat goes and keeps the water at a balmy temperature well enough above freezing through the winter?

Fish may have a brain the size of a pea, but if cold is a problem for them they know enough to go where it's warm.

One or two fish aren't a problem. But there's still a risk of getting a breeding population where they don't belong.

There is a lake near me here in Kentucky, where a piranha was supposed to have been caught. Supposedly, it is kept in a freezer at the boat dock office and they will show it to anyone who asks to see it. I haven't seen it myself so I can't vouch for its authenticity, but I know people who claim to have seen it. I'm guessing someone had it as a pet and then released it into the lake. I just wonder if there were more and if they survived.
