There are still people who do not realize the US is quickly becoming a police state and the police are truly above the law.

This is what bothers me the most about this actually. Although I truly believe no one should have the right to tell another person what they can or cannot put into their body, NO ONE should be above the law even if they are laws I don't agree with.

So that would mean back in the days of slavery you'd help round up and slaughter disobediant black people because that was the law of the time.
You'd help turn in that nasty jewish girl Anne Frank because that was the law of that time.
You'd help burn a dirty witch at the stake because that was the law of that time.
Are we seeing a pattern emerge yet?

Maybe you didn't mean to, but that to me seems like some trolling there sir. What he was stating is that no one should be above the current laws that everyone else is subject to, even though he doesn't agree with them. Meaning, cops should not be in this invisible group that doesn't have to adhere to the same laws as the lowly peons. Make sense?

Or are you just trying to derail the argument into realms that don't exist?

It would appear you most certainly did.
Would you like to rephrase your statement?

Nah. If you're not smart enough to put things into context then you probably shouldn't be participating in this thread.

Now if we can get back on topic that would be great.

Perhaps the fact that you were involved in the body building scene, where people are doing a lot of it on a professional level and must either do it right or lose their testicles, is the reason why you see less of it than the rest of the world apparently does.

My experience comes from having been a Marine infantryman and later a security guard, which brings me into contact with a lot of cops, crooks and assorted amateur tough guys. And I've noticed that when somebody kicks his own dog to death just to prove that he doesn't have to listen to what anybody else thinks, or keeps screaming at the person he is road-raging at even while his car is rolling into a golf course pond, or breaks both of his hands on a locker because he can't get libo on saint patty's day, it's never just some cross country runner with a type-A personality.

I've done a little searching and apparently anabolic steroids is a big problem among police officers in general. something like this could be the kick start to get rid of the so called problem, or at least excuse it.

You guys are mixing up bad cops and general assholes with steroids being the cause

The cause, for cops, is dealing with 9/10 people they come across are rotten...you jus happened to be that 10th person and its expected that you'll act like the other 9...its not right and its not an excuse...but when you deal with the worst people in the community more than dealing with the good people...you're going to lash out

Cops are offered therapy and such as much as they want, most dont utilize this...but that is another debate all together

The assholes you've seen would've acted like assholes regardless. You just assume guy+roids=asshole when in reality, its guy=asshole...who just happens to take whatever drugs/alcohol/steroids/etc

correlation does not mean causation

Heres some research for you

www.dana.org...

For 10 years, Melloni and his collaborators have injected some 1,200 adolescent hamsters with anabolic steroids in amounts and combinations that resemble street doses, then carefully have tracked their behavior and neural responses.

“The results are very clear-cut,” he says. “If you give animals steroids, they are tremendously more aggressive.

Now this study goes on to say that in therapeutic levels (replacement therapy) they don't see the increase in aggression like they do when people are left to dose themselves up however they want (street doses). Therefore the studies agree that if you are taking steroids to the point of 'bulking up' muscle, that is a street dose and WILL make you more aggressive. We are seeing waaaaay too many cases of police abuse over the last couple of years to even agree with this behavior or any behavior that would make the police more aggressive. You need a 'smart' police force not a bulked up mad man to come to your aid. They can always have more officers respond if needed, but you can't always put a citizen back together thats been beaten half to death.

What the concern here is, it least to me, is that said a hole, stops someone that doesn't want to comply or even just does something the a hole doesn't like. Instead of yelling and cuffing as a hole may just do, a hole stomps the crap out of the person, because he gets worked into roid rage.
And it is not a problem, because hey, he succumbed to said roid rage, so it is the fault of the steroids, but those are legal, in the police departments view.

Would you like to rethink that reply?

Here are some of the side effect of steroid use*...

Men who take anabolic steroids may:
Develop breasts
Get painful erections
Have their testicles shrink
Have decreased sperm count
Become infertile
Become impotent
Have mood swings
Fly into rages
Suffer delusions
Get acne
Have an oily scalp and skin
Become bald

So in effect the Portland police Dept is doping up their force with a substance that gives them bald, greasy, pizza faced cant get it up, unstable, enraged, delusional and what say to top it off lets give them guns and a modicum of power over the average person.

What could possibly go wrong?????

Have any of you actually done research on anabolic steroids outside of media hype and webmd?

If you have "roid rage"...its not from anabolic steroids, its because you're an asshole that needs an excuse to lash out

The problem being that most people attracted to the line of work are looking for an authoritative position that makes them feel like god, adding in juice might not be the best idea.

I have known quite a few LEOs that abused this over the years, and apparently it's pretty rampant in some places. In any case, it comes down to the person. I mean, the same warnings aren't out there for HRT, and the boomer generation who are prescribed the very same thing, and they seem to cope with it.

Perhaps the fact that they are taking it with the idea of being stronger and more aggressive is not helping. It is 100% a mental thing if you ask me. No different than learning how to live with new hormones during puberty.

Quoting for truth.

I too am involved in physical fitness, workout with several bodybuilders and when they're cycling who/what they are is amplified but steroids don't make the meek into the mad. Really.

The assholes who hide their asshole self lose some of their ability to hide that asshole self, that's it.

The in your face assholes are unchanged as they always were an asshole.

Saying that there is 'roid rage' is like Ted Bundy blaming porn for him being a serial killer.

I don't see a problem with it.. Many doctors and clinics for that age reversing craze prescribe testosterone to A lot of people including women..Having taken them myself (dr supervision) and knowing a lot of other men who dabble.. I never experienced or witnessed the "roid rage" .. As far as making police officers more abusive? The ones on the power trip are going to anyways..

With the increase of illegal drugs that can enhance strength(pcp) and dull pain receptors.. I'm more in favor of a police officer having the ability to restrain those over tazing, pepper spray and ultimately shooting them..

They have the law and all the fire power on their side anyways.. If it helps with their confidence in their physical abilities.. Who knows it may decrease the number of shootings..

Grocery stores, gas stations, schools, and hospitals sell peanuts which can kill people, what are you trying to say? God damn are you over exaggerating in you're own take on something you know nothing about.

Everyone I personally know that takes them (over 50 people) have never experienced any of those symptoms, clearly you don't know what you're talking but early balding does happen in some people if you're prone to lose your hair later on in life. Never seen it myself, but I've heard it happen to a few guys. People in this thread are so misinformed and only a few posts here know what they're talking about. There's no such thing as roid-rage.

I support the use of steroids safely, doctors prescribe Test and HGH to tens of thousands of people, so I have yet to see the reason how they're killing you if you use them safely. If cops want to take them go ahead yet you do know some prohomones are tainted with 'steroids' in sense so they can't get in trouble for a tainted supplement. They increase you're ability to repair your body, they don't turn you into a monster and if you believe that you're clearly misinformed.

Bingo. If you're an a-hole before steroids, you're just a bigger a-hole after it.
