So the Dubai airshow is underway, and they were right, it's not going to disappoint with aircraft orders. It's day one, and there have been several large orders placed.

Etihad: 25 777X (17 -9X, 8 -8X [launch customer]), 30 787-10s, 1 777F, 24 A350 Regional
Emirates: 150 777X (50 more options), 50 A380s (90 on order, 101 to be delivered)
Qatar: 13 A330-200F, option for 50 777X
Flydubai: 100 737 MAX, 11 737NG

And this is only day 1.

Etihad has ordered 40 A350-900s, 10 A350-1000, and 36 A320neo (26 A321, 10 A320) with options for 30 more.
GECAS ordered 5 ATR 72-600s, with options for 5 more.
Air Cote D'Ivore conditionally ordered 2 Q400s, with 2 options.
Libyan Wings ordered 3 A350-900s, and 4 A320neos, with operations starting next year with two leased A320s.

Day one shattered every record ever held for aircraft orders. Emirates alone ordered 229 aircraft worth $99B at list prices. There were a total of 623 aircraft ordered by the end of the day.

That's great news, think the quantity sold will lower the prices? I also wonder if this will bring jobs to the Boeing plant in Charleston SC.

They usually negotiate lower prices based on how many they're ordering, as well as future orders, etc. It's a very complex formula to negotiate.

Zaph, I had read on one site that the F-22 was making an appearance, despite sequestration!

Have you heard anything about that?

A number of US platforms made appearances at Dubai, including the first appearance by the P-8A. Almost all of them were already in the region so they made the hop over to the airshow.

Add Cathay Pacific to the list. They announced an order for 21 777-9X aircraft. The order is worth $7.5B at list prices (most aircraft are discounted however).

The Dubai airshow is awesome, my air wing was invited to show a few of our planes so our E-2C was there. The place was HUGE! There were some US Air Force birds there as well, and there were tons of really cool things to see. One of them is this tool box, made by Snap-On I believe, that uses your ID to check out tools. In military aviation (at least with Navy/Marines) tool control is a very big issue. This was cool because it would automatically check out tools when you opened a drawer and pulled a tool or tools. When it was put back, it auto checked them back in.
