That's great! And I never thought you were crazy...

The red sparks thing still has me very interested. Maybe some of the other sightings will mention that too as I think that's unusual and may give some clues as to what it was you saw.

Please keep us posted if you learn anything more. I'll do a little searching too...

Oh wow how cool! I love comets and I was not aware of the fact that we have four currently in the sky, thank you so much for the heads up!

My aunt passed away recently and coming home from her viewing on Monday night my husband and I saw a MASSIVE meteor. I like to think it was her big send off and she was saying Good Bye.

Here's a recent image of comet Lovejoy, by Damian Peach: www.damianpeach.com...

"Comet Lovejoy in colour from October 30th. Currently the skies brightest and most impressive comet."

The trouble is getting up early before the dawn to see it. astroblogger.blogspot.co.uk... On the other hand, seeing several comets at once is worth doing it for. Now if only the weather behaved...

Before talking how 'cool' it is to see it, have you bothered to check what magnitude they are? ISON was not anything visible for the naked eye. Or admiring the observatory view without anything first hand?

You can (or very soon will be able to) see them through binoculars. That also counts for "cool comets to see".

That would be like a slice of heaven. Can you imagine your home sitting in that area? Wow, just beautiful.

Now? Absolutely.

The middle of January? Not so much...

So many comets? I can't even remember in my life that I ever heard that we had this much comets visable in our skies at once?

Are we perhaps not in the mids of this Oort cloud passing ...?

well, don't that beat all?

the comets are highlighting the constellations:

coma berenices (gold hair(crown?))
virgo
leo (therefore also highlighting the sickle of leo)
cancer(crab, something related to the sea) & (most ominous of all) canis minor

sorry. I couldn't help pointing them out. I was once the most voracious bible reader

never mind, forget I said anything

We don't pass through the Oort cloud, it surrounds the solar system, bound to the sun like the planets....

Interesting no mention of the Four Horsemen?

I will have to see if I view them in the morning weather permitting.

If the hypothesized oort is real then is Tyche also?
Or is SOL pulling them in alone, as the SOL system encounters more celestial filled areas?

I think I saw one of them last night with the naked eye. A faint smudge nearly straight up 90 degrees. Have never noticed it before and don't know what else it could have been. Looked like a comet.

Oh no, not another insert symbol X to meet current event Y from that evil book of Revelation.

People, you've been doing this for almost 2000 years since the thing was written. When will you stop it?

Read "The History of the End of the World," for starters. Then work on deprogramming yourselves...
