Black box in your car? Some see source of tax revenue

wmd_2008They talked about this in the UK the plan was to drop fuel tax and tax you for your mileage that way people who wear out the road Ie drive more miles pay more than people who don't.

Our roads (in So Cal at least) are cheap asphalt. You can not drive on them at all and they will still evaporate away leaving only gravel behind. You can't blame the drivers for that, it isn't wear and tear.

There's a word for this kind of article. It's called a trial balloon. They're testing the waters to see what kind of reaction they get and they're preparing people, getting them used to the idea.

Also, when they actually make this move, they won't repeal any other taxes. They'll just add this one top of it. For this reason alone, I have a hard time seeing any serious Libertarian groups agreeing with it.

There have been articles like this for years. So unless this is some sort of decade plus expiration, it makes no sense.
