Ooo, Donald O'Connor:

In those days you had to be able to sing, dance and act. He was funny as hell too.

I like Buster too...he tickles my funny bone more that Charlie C.

(The Ten Commandments)...a very good classic for it's time. Several years ago I met Charlton Heston at a book signing; he came across as very confident and he really enjoyed being among his fans.

On the topic, i was thinking earlier if we didn't have any entertainers what would the world be like. Like no music, no movies, no plays, opera, ochistra, shows, none of that what so ever. That would be a weird world.

The above statement you have made...I totally agree. I have noticed that in times of heavy stress in my life...some good music, a play or a movie etc. takes me away for a while...connects me in a positive way to something else...it's like I am having a vacation in my mind.

I am a big fan of all your choices! There were so many wonderful actors (back in the day)...not many left now though.

Man there are so many. There was such talent back then. Burt Lancaster, Boggie, etc. The one that jumps out to me is Spencer Tracy. He shares an achievement with Tom Hanks. Guess.

"There was such talent back then..."

i agree (back in the day) I think there was a lot more talent... then there is now...I know many may not agree with me; but that is how I see it.

I love, love, love the bad boys!

Brando in (A Streetcar Named Desire) with Vivian Leigh...he was at his prime; his version of (Stanley) in my opinion was the best.

Kirk Douglas...to me it does not matter what movie he is in...I just like to watch him act...he is so wonderful!

Jimmy Cagney...I will watch any of his movies too. One of my favorites of his is (White Heat).

Its true. Looks matter more than talent. If you are truly talented, however, you still get roles and do well regardless of looks (Steve Buscemi is a good example of ugly as hell but still does well working in Hollywood).

My wife and I marveled at what the world was calling "fat" with Lady Gaga. That isn't even voluptuous, let alone fat. Then on the flip side, the most searched for feature in women when men use internet search is for a bigger woman.

I agree..when I am watching these 2 actors; no matter what movie they are in; I am held captive by their presence and their acting skills; the way they tell the story.

One of my favorite movies that Burt Lancaster did is (The Birdman of Alcatraz).

With Kirk Douglas...there are so many...(Young Man With a Horn), (Ulysses), and (Lust for Life) are 3 of my favorites that he did.
