Believe it or not I've also seen that one and yes, I was sympathetic to the poor guy. I have watched Pumpkinhead at least dozens of times- it is one of my favorite B-Horror movies. It's the old crone that does it for me- I have actually met 2 different women in my life that the old witch character could have been based on- yes, there are real people like that!

Welcome from the west side of Houston! Sounds like you have a lot to contribute to our little asylum. I'll be looking forward to your threads.

@tvtexan
Nice hat

We must shop at the same place. Here's mine.

So, how was your commute on I-10 this morning ?

As it is, I have to take 290 at no later than 5:45am just to "beat" the traffic and make it down to the galleria every day!

I live up in Copperfield, a little north of Jersey Village...

Perhaps you and TVTEXAN and I should down some beers and some bratts?

Must be nice. I don't mind the commute, I just get lost in music really...but it is time spent away from family and friends, so therefore it sucks...

For what it's worth, I cannot believe that a city like Houston doesn't have a proper mass transit system the way DC or NY or Chicago does....This is a joke, having to drive everywhere...being able to take the train is such a nice thing....

I hear that alot from new Houstonians. I don't know why it hasn't happened.
Maybe because Houston is built on oil and someone doesn't want us to stop commuting? Hmmmm....sounds like a conspiracy. lol
May have to investigate.

So, uh,yeah...just finished American Mary...wow...what a deflating experience.

First of all, why in the world was it titled American Mary ? WTF did identifying her as being American, other than being obvious, have to do with the plot in the least bit ? The only thing I can begin to think is that her assistant surgeon if I remember was not American, and the twins seeking surgery sounded to speak with an accent, too.

Second, what a bland ending. The cops catch on to her. Please. Why not just jump straight to "Law & Order: SVU" or some other banal television offering. Or how about a blatant lifting of half of the story line from "Human Centipede". Instead, we were simply offered with an attempt at a "freakshow" of the body modification scene...which I'm sorry, although I don't partake, is nothing new to me. Who did they think would watch this film ?

Third, didn't loose ends just seem to tie themselves up rather quickly and without much thought? It was as if the hired writers knew time was running out on the contract so they just slopped things together.

Fourth, why in the hell didn't they explore more of the relationship between Mary and her body guard, what, Vinnie ? I liked it when they sat there drinking milkshakes together.....he seemed like an interesting sod and rather down to earth.......given the circumstances they were both in....and they almost seemed to have a bit of chemistry...

Hmmm, what could have given that story a twist and made it more interesting...

Perhaps she began to desire to emulate what she saw, through getting to know the people she was working on and what their personal reasonings for doing this to themselves were and realized she wanted the same, and found it necessary to perform the body modifications to herself as there was nobody else to do it for her? Maybe she ended up as something unrecognizable as being human? That took about 45 seconds of thought and postulation, and I guarantee you it would have been a better story than what was presented.

At the end, about the only redeeming quality I could find overall to the film is that the gal playing Mary was rather cute....Wasn't she the older sister in GingerSnaps? Now, THERE'S a good story! Particularly so for being low budget and a twist on a standing theme....

welcome sadistnocturnet .

enjoy the threads plenty to get involved with here

I noticed in a different thread you said you were from Scotland...what parts are you from ?

I am certain that as an american, anytime I land at GLA and hire a car, there is an all points bulletin out for my arrest. The first roundabout I always manage to grab in the wrong direction. Every SINGLE time...onetime I took the wrong direction heading out of the airport, ended up in downtown Glasgow in rushhour traffic...well, let's just say it wasn't pretty and I'm sure many had said "He's lost the plot!"

If you're curious, I have a daughter that lives in Cumbria to the south...specifically in Whitehaven. A beautiful little town.

Send me a pint, some galaxy, and some milk chocolate hob nobs!!!

Cheers!

Yeah, I was pretty let down by that movie, I mean it was completely anticlimactic- and no, I didn't think the name made sense either. I also agree that I'd have liked to seen more of what exactly was going on with her and the bodyguard guy... he was interesting!

I did like her in Ginger Snaps. The sequel was ridiculous though!

My commute was fairly easy as usual. I'm probably even farther west and then north. I also work around the galleria area.

What type business are you in?

Got any good horror recommendations for Netflix then ? Wow, American Mary looked great...boy, it was worse than a prom date tease!!!
I liked Stake Land....I thought it was a refreshing take on the "vampire" and "zombie" genre...and I liked the story...the characters were somewhat intriguing...

I hate to break it to you, there were more than just one sequel to Ginger Snaps
