I would say the trick is to use a real camera... not to use an iphone camera...

I try though...

I love seriously dangerous, insane weather. I dont go walking in the sun like most folks, because I prefer hard heavy rain, hail, high winds, sleet, three foot worth of snow...and I LOVE thunder and lightning storms.

I am teaching myself to use soft pastels for paintings. I would love to use your photos to try to paint a picture of the clouds, storm, and rainbows, but to do so, I must have your permission, since you own the copyright on the photos.

I will certainly be happy to post the completed painting for you once it is done! So, only with your permission, I would be thrilled to do a painting from your beautiful photos.

Please let me know.

I hope you get some good ones! It's really all about luck. The shot I posted above was featured by the NWS office at Charleston and the local news. It's turned into quite a spectacle.

Maybe you'll have a similar experience at some point here soon!

We are having some much needed mild ones right now and the thunder rolls through the valley shaking the windows. We occasionally have some pretty intense ones and I try to have a camera ready when we do.

No problem. I have many more of the storm if you need more inspiration.

That would be awesome! Thank you so much! We had a small storm over the weekend, but just your typical blacks and blues and grays, nothing like the spectacular colors in your photos. You could either start another thread, post them here, U2 me, or just put them in your photo album. Am I able to access your photo album? Anyway, I am quite appreciative, and thrilled too! Can hardly wait to get started!

*Bounce*!

P.S. I tried to download the images to my tablet, so I could zoom in, etc., but it only let me download the first image in each posting. I especially like the one with the lightning across the rainbow on page 1, and the large image with the yellow sky, third down I think, on page 2. The one with the crane almost reminds me of an airplane shot, since you can see clouds forming so low, like an overhead view. Great shots, very inspiring!
