Over the years, the Republican party has greatly changed. One doesn't have to go back to Lincoln or even the early years of M.L.K.

The evolution from a "Rockefeller Republican" party which, apparently, was a lip-service opposition group more likely to be visiting and sharing brandy and cigars with their democrat brethren, to a Reagan Republican party which, for a short time, revived the American pride/dream.

Newt Gingrich's contract with America was an attempt to make specific internal improvements after Reagan's solidifying of external issues, military degradation, the Soviets, and others.

Overconfidence and brilliant attacks on Gingrich ended the brash "new kids" on the block. This was accomplished by attacks on Gingrich and internal house whips within the republican party which "took care of" pre-Tea Party types in Congress of the Gingrich era.

Ineffective leadership since Reagan has lead the Republican party back to a "Rockefeller" style party now labeled Rinos.

(Don't get me wrong, the dems haven't had one either since JFK, although some might argue Clinton had many of the ingredients of a leader. Obama really is nothing more than an eloquent White House press secretary reading prepared messages designed by committees representing the coalition that is the democrat party.)

The final blow to the Republican party will be ObamaCare and the upcoming budget.

From the RNC comes the message that a potential federal gov't shut down would do much damage to the party and "funding" ObamaCare will allow the republicans to survive "unscathed" when it "inevitably crashes later.

What they don't say is they endorse spending untold billions on a program, ObamaCare, which will fail! Wasting those billions and costing untold billions to repair/replace ObamaCare after the fact...all that wasted money for political expediency....

I supported the Dems up to Reagan and moved to the Republican view. If the RNC goes through with this plan, I will never again support, on a Party basis, the Republicans ever again. I believe many see it that way as well.

On the other hand, a gov't shut down will be spun by the media into "another" gov't shut down by the Republicans, starving our elderly and other complete garbage which will be totally bought by the mindless on the left.

Either way, The Republican party is in dire straights. It is probably done as an effective opposition and surely is doing nothing to inspire a belief that they can fix anything, whatsoever, if given the presidency back.

Somehow, we survived the cold war. I really don't know how we did. Somehow, we need another "divine intervention" to fix this mess......

The GOPs real problem is the Tea Party. They have let the a bunch a lunatics become the face the party and thar allows the entire party to painted as bunch of racist, homophomic, women hating idiots. They need to retake the public face of the party and get rid of the nut bags. As for Obamacare everyone knows it is just a bandaid on our failing healthcare system. It will cost money and delay the complete disaster that is coming because Americans are to stupid to figure out what every other modern nation has and that is healhcare as for profit buisness is the Titanic racing towards and iceberg.

I am so angry with that douchebag mccain for going over to Syria to have a photo-op with alCIAda - and then mccain and graham running over to Egypt to get the MB re-installed - I don't think I'll ever vote for either of the 2 parties - I'll throw my vote away on a third party from now on.

I'm angry, but glad the truth so blatantly comes out.

Hmm, given the choice, at least at this stage, I'm rather inclined to the Tea Party than the Rino's. I am neither a racist, bigot, woman-hater or any of the other labels you used.

That cannot be changed. You and yours control that media, not me or mine.

The very fact that the media, (and you) need those labels, lacking any logical rebut, is more than enough for me to support them.

I see no alternative....

Of course, your right. the Problem I see is the trust/knowledge of my representative and his "history".

Way back, it was a local guy, usually fairly well off.( no one else had the time to worry about politics, they were too busy just trying to survive.) He was well known, probably knew his family for decades, if not generations.
a history of fairness, even generosity in the community.

You know anyone like that??

Convince him to run for office and vote for him.....

" Convince him to run for office and vote for him...."

...And have his idealistic Belief in True Humanity Beaten out of him by State and Federal Politicians once he is Elected and becomes one of THEM ?

No , thats not the Answer , the Entire Political System in this Country needs a Serious Reboot and the Malware Remove from the Systems Office Before Stability can come Back to the Users that they were First intended to Represent,,..

Yea, I would say (party politics) is pretty much destroyed. No saviors in site. and politics is so dirty everything and anything in your life gets used against you.

arrested back in blah blah? ohhhh really now!

cheated with a married chick/dude? cheated on your spouse? BOOOOOO
lets see what else is there...
oh your homophobic, you hate other religions
you did drugs!
You failed classes!
your campaign contributions were too high!
You watch porno!
you are prejudice!
youre a warmonger!
You suck at speeches!
You suck at photoshop!
wrote a book? have an opinion on the internet? BOOOO!
Youre a judge, or work in judicial, or have comm/ political degrees/ former governors, congressman or mayors crappy city councils. NOPE
Oh yea and if youre a family member of someone who has been in office? forget it.
your families reputation is trashed, there is no fixing that damage so just go do something else. get out of politics. Matter of fact, the sooner the better and dont let your kids run.

You could be all and none of that and it wont matter anymore. and if you manage to beat any of that, Hi NSA! we know what you did last summer! right? so..

The list goes on and on. There is nothing to "bring back" either so dont even talk about it. Dont get on ballots. just dont bother.

Obamacare is going to kill a lot of support for the democrats as well. Just wait until all those folks who thought they were getting free health care, instead get a bill from the US Government ... a tax penalty bill.

Amen brother. I truly don't get it. I can't understand how so many people STILL can't see that both sides are just corrupt, self-serving front-men that serve the same masters and are working toward the same agenda. Sure, you get some marginally honest politician that gets elected and sincerely wants to 'work for the people' and they end up getting crushed and marginalized. We The People have absolutely no hope if we keep electing Reps/Dems. None. Game over.

This BS about 'wasted votes' is perpetuated by the Rep/Dem crime organization. No political savior is going to rise-up from the establishment. It's NEVER going to happen. How can presumably intelligent people not get this? Look back at how the crime syndicates took over major cities back in the last century. This is exactly the same thing that has happened again but on a national, working toward global, scale.

We have only three choices as I see it:

1. We can keep playing this losing game until we have been completely stripped of our rights, impoverished, and subjugated to the point that we become serfs in the feudal system they have been building. At that point we will be no better than the peasants struggling to survive in China, North Korea, etc. and entirely incapable of mounting any opposition.

2. We can immediately and suddenly abandon the political establishment en masse and attempt to replace ALL politicians with third-party people with NO current or former associations with either of the established parties and work to re-establish our rights and root-out the corruption. malfeasance and incompetence that has overrun this country. Or...

3. We can wait until it becomes so bad that we end up in the streets. Some here think this would be oh-so-much-fun. Look at Egypt, Syria, Greece and elsewhere. Look like fun to you? The scale of suffering, deprivation, and destruction a frightened establishment, desperate to retain the status quo, would rain down on us would make what we see today happening in other parts of the world look like a playground scuffle.

This continual Republicans-this, Democrats-that bickering that chokes the ATS forums plays right into their hands. If I was King of ATS I'd punish anyone who starts such a thread as a traitor to the People.

A wise man once said, 'You don't have to be a weatherman to see which way the wind blows'.

Wake-up people. We have very, very little time left.

people get the bill every month in the form of a 500 dollar insurance corp. premium you have to pay. more or less that amount, depending on your family makeup. if you now have insurance, that's the insurance you'll still use.

I actually think a high/higher percentage of "tea party" members are outside that good old boy network.

Without them, the Republican party is nothing but democrats with some lipstick and makeup added....
